SpinerC
I am in tears trying to get my site back, I had to do a restore from Feb of this year due to shipping issues... I hired a guy from Mini Template to install it and create the site so I have no clue what version I am using... I followed step by step above, created the admin log in just as it says and nope, 4 hours and it still will not let me in :( I can follow steps when they are clearly laid out, I can find things in the system but, this is not working for me. Can anyone please please help me.
Guest
@@SpinerC The aforementioned steps work on EVERY osCommerce site. The mini template system you mentioned would not have any affect on the admin log in. There is obviously a step you are missing. I have reset admin passwords a hundred times using the same process. SpinerC
Hi Chris, thank you for the response. I am not a techy kind of person but, I can follow directions, I am using cPanel X and when I went to where the "administrators" file is, there are two of them on 2 data bases, so I copy and pasted what is above in both of them, in the SQL section, I did that this morning. And when I try to log in using admin and admin... it won't let me. Char
Guest
@@SpinerC Well, that isn't even close to being the process to reset the admin username and password. However, since you're in PHPMYADMIN, simply truncate the administrators table and then try to log in to the store admin area again. You will receive a message that there is NO administrators and you need to create one. Create a username and password and then log in using that new username and password. IF you also have .htaccess protection enabled you will need to change that information as well. Chris
SpinerC
@@DunWeb Thanks Chris, I did do the Truncate step, then added it back from that end. Will try again shortly to see if I can get the hang of it... needed to step away for a bit. Having a family crisis on top of this frustration, something has to give. Thank you! :)
Guest
@@SpinerC Don't add it back from PHPMYADMIN. Create a new username and password using the admin screen. Chris

SpinerC
Just wanted to ensure that the wrong message was not sent, regarding the Mini Template and the support service I have received from the developer. What I wrote above was regarding the OS Version and not to reflect the Mini Template or the developer, I LOVE the look I have of my site and the ease to use the template and the developer, because of huge time differences, has always returned my messages within 24-48 hours. Just wanted to clarify that because I was writing from a frustrated situation but, NOT regarding the former. Thanks! Char ;)

JKBF
Hey guys! I'm also having this issue and I'm clearly being thick as two short planks as I can't get it to work. I'm in our PHPMyAdmin and the amdinistrator table 'Browse' is now unpressable as I deleted the two tables instead of just 'truncate' (I too thought that meant delete). I fear I'm now in a much worse position than when I started. Is there a fix to this? I'm panicking now.
Guest
Hi, I have learned much from this forum so thought it about time i gave a little back  In database click administrators left hand column, click sql tab,to set new user:pass replace SELECT * FROM `administrators` WHERE 1 replace with INSERT INTO `administrators` VALUES (1, 'admin', '55340159dccd929e0cd2abd72cfe799a:14'); Change 1 to 2 if 1 already exists etc Click Go this creates new user:pass admin:admin but you cannot login (it will not work) if you have already set Additional Protection With htaccess/htpasswd This osCommerce Online Merchant Administration Tool installation is additionally secured through htaccess/htpasswd means. Always keep a backup of the original .htaccess file and ftp to server, you could also try deleting it see if that works? luckily I had a test server with exact duplicate entries and just exported: browse tab >tick box >export button and copied the data begining INSERT INTO `administrators` VALUES (2, 'username', 'bla bla bla'); then replaced the original htaccess with the backup/duplicate copy and I was in! Also if you do have a seperate instal (or you know someone) you/they can easily login and create any number of new administrators and copy over the same from the DB as suggested above along with the htaccess file too. netgroup
Here's the solution (you must have login.php files with ©2010:) backup, backup, backup, backup, backup, backup, backup, backup, backup, backup, backup, backup, backup, backup, backup, backup (ok point made!)) 1. if using cpanel go to "password protected directories" and add the same user name and password you would like to use for the admin to the admin folder 2. add to the db under administrators another record with the same username on step 1 and remember the id given 3. add this line to the bottom of login.php: tep_db_query("update " . TABLE_ADMINISTRATORS . " set user_password ='" . tep_encrypt_password('Enter here the same password you've entered on step 1') . "' where id = '" . enter the id from step 2 here . "'"); 4. go to yousite.com/admin try to login and close the window 5. remove the line you've added to login.php 6 you're done... open a new browser window and login!
