Gee...ahhh thanks for the comment...about my school. Did you try to buy something? I think not. We run a research area on our server for testing many types of OSS; moodle, postnuke, typo3, xoops, Zope etc... and yes even OSC. Kool School eh?

Now if you want to see the live MS1 site (that I'm trying to upgrade) to verify that I'm fair dinkum then please visit http://www.musicplace.com.au

Now would someone please be kind enough to give some critical feedback? It doesn't need to be long. I look and give feedback when I can. I'm getting desperate that's all.

Cheers,

Rob

I would give you a very high rating for the look of the site, but it takes forever to load all the graphics. For that reason I wouldn't shop there, but that is my personal opinion.

Under your Customer testimonials, it not coming up correct. The HTML code is showing through.

Personal Perference: I would center the bottom menu and copyright tagline.

Conditions of Use, Privacy Notice, Shipping and returns all are empty

Too slow for me to check out more..

Jamie

Looks to me like the site was created with 800x600 in mind? Anything above 800x600 seems to have alot of dead space. At 1280x1024 it makes the site look sparse and boring. There's a contribution that will make the cart a specific width, I'd look that up and use it so that your cart stays at an 800 width, which looks much better. On a personal note, I'd get rid of the box around your policies and contact links (more dead space) and center it and the address information underneath it (the address information would be ok w/out centering). Otherwise, it looks good.

Great! Thanks for the feedback gaia and Jamie! Yea, the testing server is a dog and I apologise for that. The graphics are really optimised and will rip on my commercial server.

I am aware that content is lacking but I am upgrading and have tons of content ready when the design is sorted out.

The funny thing with the testimonies contribution is that any image tag <img src> is being read as text unless the URL is absolute. For some reason I can't put in <img src="images/dir/image.gif> Have to have absolute or I get the juck you see.

So I'll fix that asap.

I don't mind boring, I want to sell product based on the quality and price not on the slick site...plus I'm not very slick. I want it easy to navigate and the text clear (which I'm working on now).

I'll upload it to my commercial server then post back here when it's ready for a Platform, Browser and Speed check.

Thanks again,

Rob

Sorry, I didn't really mean boring as in "not slick enough". Maybe boring isn't the correct term. Basically my point was that, on web browsers with resolutions higher than 800x600, I feel that the amount of dead space between the various elements detracts from the navigation of the site. This is mostly for those areas that list categories, like the index page. I think that limiting the width to 800 px might be a good remedy and wouldn't really affect your design much. However, you have stated that the design is not yet sorted out, so maybe you already have a solution, or maybe it's just not much of a concern to you.
