rag
I've found my main problem. Big fat bloated images! Now I have a problem, my client wants people to get a good quality close up of his saxophones. So I assumed that the thumbnails generated by PHP would reduce accordingly but I guess not. Any ideas how I could sort this out? I'll look for a contribution and I'll probably make seperate images for thumbnails to keep them at about 5kb and then link somehow to my large closeup images. Anyone?
trendyfashion
I use auto thumbnail v1.0 from contrib section. Thumbs are very small in size but quality is not fantastic. Here is an example from my site. The thumb is 1400b and the large image is 169kb..not a real good high res pic but you can see the image is a whopper. Guest
There are several contributions for multiple images. The newest is called Ultra Pics. There is another one called Small, Medium, Large Images. It sounds like you would be satisfied with using the same thumbnail for product listings and the product info page; I know that there is at least one contribution that does just that if you don't want the extra capabilities of Ultra or SML. rag
Alright, I've used Auto Thumbnail like trendyfashion suggested. I'll browse my site now and start caching those images. Hope this helps my bloated site! Cheers, Rob

I've optimised the DB and cached my thumbnails. Seems to have cut it down by half. What do you think is realistic? 10 seconds on 56k? Time to get my hands dirty...
