[Contribution] Links Manager for osC v1.00

Be sure you only replace the code I listed. It is buried in some other code. Also, there are two places on the code where that code appears and they both need to be replaced.

I'm sure I only replaced code that you listed, but at first, I had only replaced it in one spot. I now replaced it in both, but still getting the same result.

It's okay Jack ... I'll just revert back to the old one. Thanks again for a wonderful contribution.

Actually Jack, I didn't notice, but it came out as being spelled java script instead of javascript and this was causing the error. There isn't a hand there, so I hope people know it's a link, but it works now!

Thanks a bunch for the fix!

Hey Jack, all ....

One more issue. To get a friend's Ultimate SEO's to work with Links Manager, I had to install a new includes/classes/seo_class.php. This is so her categories don't show up like www.domain.com/-c-1.html and www.domain.com/-c-2.html, but instead www.domain.com/mink-c-1.html.

The problem is that, although I have the proper code in her .htaccess:

RewriteRule ^(.*)-links-(.*).html$ links.php?lPath=$2&%{QUERY_STRING}

But when I install this new seo_class.php, her links manager URL's are dynamic, not regular Ultimate SEO URL's.

When I revert back to the old seo_class.php, her Links Manager SEO URL's work fine, but her categories are back to www.domain.com/-c-1.html, etc. ....

Have a look for yourself: http://www.arlisa-bijoux.com/links.php ... right now, her categories are fine -- Ultimate SEO static html pages. But her Links Manager URL's are not right ... and depending on which seo_class.php I use, it seems like it's either one or the other, but not both.

I'm sure someone has run into this problem before, and any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would just go to your admin tool .... www.yoursite.com/admin .... and click configuration ... then click links .... and turn pictures off. Then they won't show up.

Good luck.

Hello,

I am having a spot of trouble. I have just discovered Link Manager was by default part of my Creloaded installation, which was great news. However after adding a couple of links to the system i am having some trouble basically :

When i try and submit my site to other sites ( For Example http://www.picturesongold.com/links/addlink.php ) as a link partner there system checks the link page of my site

( http://www.thecharmworks.com/catalog/links.php?lPath=3 ) but states that there is no link to there site on the page. I at first thought this was the click redirect system hiding the link so i turned if off but the site above and several others automated link submission system says that i have not linked to there sites when i have. Any ideas ???

Thanks Alex

Thanks, but I meant the columns. instead of adding another row, its added a column.

Are you using the links.php file included with the contribution or has it been edited? If you switch to the vertical listing does it work?

All of a sudden my links manager is malfunctioning. It's been working fine for months. It keeps saying reciprocal links can not be found when they are indeed on the page referred. Also starting to get 1064 errors with it as well. Anyone else having these issues?

Thank you,

Kim

You have an extra space in the links.php file. See this.

Hi. I have a similar problem to Steve. This is what I get on the catalog page:

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\catalog\includes\filenames.php:1) in C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\catalog\includes\functions\sessions.php on line 97

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\catalog\includes\filenames.php:1) in C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\catalog\includes\functions\sessions.php on line 97

and in the admin section:

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\catalog\admin\includes\filenames.php:1) in C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\catalog\admin\includes\functions\sessions.php on line 67

I have checked the filenames.php with notepad, expressions web and dreamweaver and there is def no extra spaces

I am running this on my home computer with MySQL 5.0.22 and PHP 2.9.11. I like to test everything before I upload to my live site. What do you suggest now

:(

The problem is with the beginning of the filenames file. There is an extra space or invalid character there. The very first character has to be <.

Hi,

I installed version 1.4 & 1.4b.

I have my store running in Germany so I changed "Display German Links" to true. All other are false.

If I get a link I always get an error in the admin because the submitted link can not be read.

In the catalog the sumitted link is counted but not shown.

I tried an hour to fix it without result...

Has anyone an idea what to do?

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

Turned STS off and still have issues. Categories are there, link count is correct. Just no links are displayed.

I fixed it -- it seems i never put the correct modules in their place. Without a link_listing file you really cant display much ;-).

Forgive me if this has been covered. I have been reading dozens of pages of problems and have given up as I have not found any mention of what I am looking for :-).

I am using links manager version 1.08 and it works just great. My trouble is that somehow people are auto submitting - tons of porn sites and other undesirable links.

Can someone please advise a simple way I can turn off the 'submit link' portion. Can I just remove a file, or just comment something out in a file ?

I will then use the links manager manually and it will work great for me, but I am spending too much time deleting inappropriate links.

There is code posted in this thread as to how to limit which links can be submitted.

Jack

Thank you. A search of this thread for 'limit' and also for 'auto' did not bring it up. I guess I will go back to page 24 of this thread and continue reading from that point. (I have already read pages 1-23)

After reading 30+ pages, I found where you said the links could be limited, but its not feasible to figure out all the variations of different spam words that could be used and add a line for each. I guess I will have to figure out which pages and how to remove the submit button and the submit page when I have time.

You can remove the submit button from the link.php page. But doing so takes away one of the key features of the package, in my opinion. Plus, it won't prevent those sites from linking to you. As with all spam, it is just something that has to be accepted.

I dont think these sites have any intention of linking to me. They are just hoping for a free link. It seems that perhaps there is an auto submit program out there that knows the filenames to use for oscommerce stores for the links.

If anyone else is experiencing the same issue as I am - What I have done is to

rename

includes/languages/english/links_submit.php and also catalog/links_submit.php to something else.

and then changed the reference in includes/filenames to point to the 'renamed file' instead of links_submit.php.

I am thinking this will stop the unwanted auto submissions but still allow the links manager contribution to work as intended - we will see.

I', sorry, I assumed you had the latest version of Links Manager installed. You should upgrade your version since it prevents a link from being submitted unless an existing link already exists. If that is the only problem you are faced with, the solution is already there.

Jack,

This is a great contribution. I installed Links Manager V 1.14 - June 22 2006

One small problem - in the /catalog/includes/functions/links.php file

in the function: CheckURL($url)

I submit a new link via /links_submit.php, and the page hangs for a while on this line:

if (@file($url)) {

it eventually returns 0 after a minute or so. It's obviously not able to connect to the url.

In php.ini I have

allow_url_fopen = On

I'm pretty sure my firewall is not blocking it either. Any suggestions?
