i dont why but the only thing i could assume that oscommerce is doing something wrong with the password.

but when i wanted to do forget password, that did not worked.

so i checked my portal and the php said disable_functions = mail
(because i also checked the app.log what is was doing)

when i removed this, afcourse mail, is enabled.

after that i redone the forgot password, and now that worked , and i received an email.

i used the email to changed the password, and now i can enter the admin section.

so you have to check there is going something wrong in the install, when making the admin log.

because i installed many times, with the same password, and could not get in.

after the above i can enter now.

i did put the settings back to disable_functions = mail

so i hope this will not get me in troubles when using the email fuetures in oscommerce??

let me know thank you.

Hi all, I'm upping this topic for a similar reason:
I have lost my original admin password, and could not reset it as I did not setup on my test server any mailing capability to go through with the reset.
From mysql I can see clearly which table and field I should use to reset my password, but I don't know the encryption used by OSC 4 to do so.
Can anyone assit?
Thank you

Hi,

If you put the settings  to disable_functions = mail, all the emails will not be sent. For example, if your customers register or try to reset the passwords they will not receive the emails.

Best regards,

Ivan

Hi Francesco,

We would recommend either to switch on the mailing capability from your end or reinstall with the new password.

Best regards,

Ivan
