fantomen
I apologize. I now see that you added this to the code. I have now tried to change this but still get this error: Internal Server Error
Hotclutch
Sorry but i can't help further. I would suggest just putting the htaccess for SEO URLs to see if it works, then you can add things to it later.

♥14steve14
What bit of the code are you actually having problems with. If my memory serves me right there is only a small amount of code to add to the htaccess file. This is the code from the install file # Begin Ultimate SEO V2.2d Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On # RewriteBase instructions # Change RewriteBase dependent on how your shop is accessed as below. # http://www.mysite.com = RewriteBase / # http://www.mysite.com/catalog/ = RewriteBase /catalog/ # http://www.mysite.com/catalog/shop/ = RewriteBase /catalog/shop/ # Change the following line using the instructions above RewriteBase /YOU HAVE TO CHANGE ME/ RewriteRule ^(.*)-p-(.*).html$ product_info.php?products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-c-(.*).html$ index.php?cPath=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-m-(.*).html$ index.php?manufacturers_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-pi-(.*).html$ popup_image.php?pID=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-by-(.*).html$ all-products.php?fl=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-t-(.*).html$ articles.php?tPath=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-a-(.*).html$ article_info.php?articles_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-au-(.*).html$ articles.php?authors_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-pr-(.*).html$ product_reviews.php?products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-pri-(.*).html$ product_reviews_info.php?products_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-f-(.*).html$ faqdesk_info.php?faqdesk_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-fc-(.*).html$ faqdesk_index.php?faqPath=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-fri-(.*).html$ faqdesk_reviews_info.php?faqdesk_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-fra-(.*).html$ faqdesk_reviews_article.php?faqdesk_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-i-(.*).html$ information.php?info_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-links-(.*).html$ links.php?lPath=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-pm-([0-9]+).html$ info_pages.php?pages_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-n-(.*).html$ newsdesk_info.php?newsdesk_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-nc-(.*).html$ newsdesk_index.php?newsPath=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-nri-(.*).html$ newsdesk_reviews_info.php?newsdesk_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-nra-(.*).html$ newsdesk_reviews_article.php?newsdesk_id=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} RewriteRule ^(.*)-po-([0-9]+).html$ pollbooth.php?pollid=$2&%{QUERY_STRING} # End Ultimate SEO V2.2d I put this bit of code near the top of the htaccess file after all the marked out oscommerce stuff at the top. I have also removed all the bits that I dont use like the faqdesk and newsdesk stuff but I dont think you have to. Which bit is tripping you up. If its the bit you have to alter you said in another post that your files are in the root folder so you just need to change the line to RewriteBase / Hope this helps. fantomen
Many thanks to all who have tried to help me with this installation. Today when I came to work, I did not have the same issue with strange characters showing up when using notepad++ and when I installed it today at work I was able to make the installation successfully. Problem is that this contribution did not do as I thought it would do. "I want the URL with the products name AND the model number but I could not find this in this contribution". Here is how it looks like in admin panel. Please see enclosed picture. Now I will try 2nd time to install Ultimate Seo Urls 5 PRO Version 1.1 R.209 Because it looks like this version have the option that I am searching for to be able to show the URL with productname and model number. ♥14steve14
Why dont you use headertags SEO which is supported, updated and maintained by the same person that also does the ultimate url addon. There is also a great support forum for that addon should you need any help. Hundreds use it and have no problems so it may be something for you to consider. MrPhil
If you ever see in a file, it's the UTF-8 Byte Order Mark. It means you used a bad editor that insists on sticking the BOM into a file, regardless of whether or not you need it. You should never see these characters (together, as a BOM) in any osCommerce file.
