Guest
The Keyword Show with Admin v1.0 contribution shows searches to your web site from visitors including yourself. It shows the IP address of the visitor, the time of the visit, the visited URL as well as the keywords used for finding your web site. At the moment the search engines Google, Google Germany, Google France, Google Japan, Other Google search engines, Yahoo, Altavista and Other search engines are differentiated in the script. By registering your own IP address in the configuration you can chose not to show your own searches. By switching off visitors' searches to your site you can chose to show only your own searches for testing purposes etc. The Keyword Show contribution assumes that your server has what is called the Extended Combined Log File Format. loxly
The Keyword Show contribution assumes that your server has what is called the Extended Combined Log File Format. And what is this and how do I know if my server has it? Quote [no external urls in signatures please, kthanks]
Guest
Sean, Check that the path to your log file is correct, including the name of the log file, in my case the logfile is access-log. And check that it is not a compressed file.
Guest
loxly, I understand that the Combined log file is the most commonly used one so most likely you can use the log file you have on your server. You can open your log file with an editor and if any line of the file looks something like this it is a Combined log file (on one line): 127.0.0.1 - frank [10/Oct/2000:13:55:36 -0700] "GET /apache_pb.gif HTTP/1.0" 200 2326 "http://www.example.com/start.html" "Mozilla/4.08 [en] (Win98; I ;Nav)" Here is a line from my own log file with a search from Google (again on one line): 203.88.131.238 - - [16/Jun/2003:04:02:17 -0400] "GET /products_new.php HTTP/1.0" 200 26682 "http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=fm+receiver&btnG=Google+Search" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 98; DigExt)" or with a visit from Googlebot: 64.68.82.5 - - [16/Jun/2003:09:00:58 -0400] "GET /robots.txt HTTP/1.0" 200 193 "-" "Googlebot/2.1 (+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)" There is more to read about this at: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/logs.html#combined
Guest
I get the same errors: Warning: fgets(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/httpd/vhosts/xxxx.com/httpdocs/store/admin/keyword_show.php on line 78 Warning: fclose(): this my log but I dont know if its compressed? /var/log/www/tep/page_parse_time.log Cheers Lee
Guest
Lee, If you can open the log file with your editor and read it so it is understandable it should not be compressed. Also, please check again that your path is correct. You could also try to set the permission on the log file as well as it's folder to 777. Regards
Guest
Lee, Sorry I did not notice first but this is not the log file you should use. The log file to be used here is normally in a folder on the same level as your www root directory and should have a name like access-log or similar. It is part of your server setup, not part of osCommerce. Regards
Guest
Thanks eastnet, Looks like mine is compressed in a .gz file. thanks.
Guest
Lee, OK, I have seen such log files as well. Should be possible to modify the script to read also compressed files, let's see when I have some time I will do it, or if someone can help to do it before me.... If you like you can decompress your log and put it back and then read it from Keyword Show so you can see how it works, at least as a temporary solution. Guest
I have now modified the contribution so that it can handle also compressed, .gz, log files. Some servers' daily log files are compressed. But you can also look at older, compressed archive files with this version. Here, again, is the contribution: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1302
Guest
Now there is a new 1.2 version which can be used in osCommerce 2.2 Milestone 2 and is better suited also for servers on Windows. It also has one added search mode in Yahoo. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1302

PrettyPink
Well, I was getting the same errors as usmanaa has said, but then I went to forums.cpanel.net and found that the path to raw log files is /usr/local/apache/domlogs/ I put that in *Keyword Show (absolute path to your logfile)* in the admin side of osCommerce. Now the error warnings are not coming, but still, there are no log reports. It is plainly visible that I have not put in the raw access log file name ...but my telnet/ssh/cpanel file manager do not show the clickable path to /usr/local/apache/domlogs/ .. I wonder what file name to put in Pls. help asap
PrettyPink
ok .. got it :) the complete path is: /usr/local/apache/domlogs/<fulldomainname> e.g., /usr/local/apache/domlogs/domain.com found this needle from the haystack on forums.cpanel.net HTH

Condurango
Hello After a long time working on it, I finally get it working. I had the same problems as all of you. In my case was the problem, that the path to my log-file was not working right, even than I thought so. To solve the problem I got with my ftp-programm (like smart FTP) to the log-file, with a right click on your mouse, you can copy the url from the log-file. Take exactly this path in the administration. After I changed this everything was working perfekt. (my path: ftp://web87615:[email protected]/log/access_log) I hope I could help some people and sorry about my english. Greetings from Switzerland.
