Please check it out and tell me what you think of it...

I've worked hard modding this so it doesn't look like the basic default site.

I disabled a few boxes (upcomming and new products) from showing on home page but still can link to these modules. I moved most of the right and left columns contents to the footer include.

be nice now :)

It seems a bit scattered (for lack of a better way of putting it) to me. A good portion of the text is next to unreadable. Footer looks out of place (too much white IMO). Lose the counter - nobody cares how much or little traffic you get. The product pages look particularly odd (product info at 100% width with the rest at less).

Good start but needs some work IMHO.

Thanks for the critique on the footer color. yes I tried it with the same as the top and it does look better to me now. I dont know what you mean by, out of place though....did you mean the color made it look out of place?

and what do you mean by a bit scattered? I havent changed anything but omiting the colomns.

Unreadable? It is in english... Im not sure what you mean by that... can you clarify?

thanks for the comments on the footer.

nice done!

i like what you did with the design.

the header looks great!

except...i think it is not very clear for the customer where to "click"

it doesnt really look logical to me.

i once read that if you want to sell, you have to make it as clear as

possible, which your site (in my opinion) does not.

and (dunno if its live yet) your information pages are empty.

good luck!

It's easier to remember, then to forget

Got to admit I am not a fan of the overall colour.

And it is very choppy, all over the place.

If I were a buyer, I dont think I would be sure where I was looking and how to buy.

It needs to be very simple and clear to the user, or they simply wont buy...

CC.

zipporah,

it's still "scattered"

Actually, I liked the original graphiocs you had up! You can't please them all, you know- so please yourself. YOur product is so specialised that people will be buying from you because of what you have.

The elements in the middle section, in product info are sort of higgledy-piggeldy. Can you bring the Tribal Judah and Zipporah logos down, and to the right of the options and addtocart buttons? Maybe a cream background? It's hard to find a color that is warm and light- or, maybe, scan a piece of bleached linen and fade it out- and use it as your background image.

The write-in windows are still a color- they don't read as write-ins at the moment. The pictures of the garments seem a little dark. Do you have a photoshop program or anything like that to manipulate your images? by lightening the image you might get more detail out of it- sometimes.

If you are not going to have thumbnail images for your categories, maybe make the fonts larger. Unless you're doing what I did at first and just using the transparent pixel as a holder image!

If you don't mind sales coming from gentiles, you might add some information about the garments and what they signify. The historical information might attract some of the "artsy" and folklore types that are always looking for something new to wear. Your prices are very reasonable and someone with some adventure in their heart might be interested

HMMM, I dont understand about the stattered comment,, I dont see it in my browser... Im wondering if it is the type of browser used? Im useing IE6.X

I know Netscape and IE dont go ahnd in had with tables and that is what im using in the product info pages... I have used an editor to work up a page for the images and descriptions and just pasted it in...

I am going to keep the white background since any other textures and colors may be distracting to my products... It looks cleaner too.

My camera is not the best i guess. and will try and get a better one in the future,, or maybe it could be my monitor, do you think.. when I do my graphics, I may be saving them light on my monitor and when you view its too dark? they look okay on mine...

Oh well Ill check with a b-partners monitor and see what he says about that...

thanks for the comments.

ok, my 2cents

Get rid of that random saying thing you have..

".....And they shall be called trees of righteousness, a planting of YHWH, to be adorned.

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 61:3 "

Also the cart box is horrible placed at the bottom of the page, its so out of place.

And because you obviously have no idea what your doing the REVIEWS box and TELL A FRIEND box also goto the bottom of the page...see here...

The graphics are good, nicely balanced and not hurting my eyes.

possibly make the price font larger so people arent looking for it if they are not used to the layout.

I aint no perfect designer myself, but http://www.interbikes.com/default.php is my site, please batter me into the ground :P

Im not harsh, just my 2cents

hah! Ignore interbikes, leave the quote where it is- it'a important to you and to the people who are looking for your clothing. Actually, I might make it larger, and use it as a background image for the whole area under the header.

As far a scattered, I just meant that there many small elements in the middle of a white field. I had the same problem you did- I moved the info boxes all over the place, but I ended up leaving them all in the left column. Like you, I removed the right column completely.

thanks, I needed to change the layout to a larger page because I have so at least 2-4 images per product to display and used a contribution infobox admin and used the footer as the right colomn. But my problem with putting everything in the left column is that the defalt page and even the product pages are too short to have all the infoboxes in the left only... so as a person logs on the shopping cart and order history and other boxes appear at the bottom to spread out accross the page more. I have a lot of return customers so far since the 3 months Ive been up... but I agree that the layout is different but I did want something different thatn the UGLY defaul OSCOMERCE layout...

any way thanks for your inpt I will take some into consideration...

oh and sorry Im not getting rid of the scriptures... my site is related to prayer shawls and the TORAH (OLD testiment) so the bible scriptures are an asset to my industry of people coming on my site... sorry if you are antisemitic...lol...

interbikes,

Your site is a php nuke site not oscommerce... lol....

first get rid of the profanity and pornography off your site and then maybe people would think they were on a professional site and a grown gentleman runs it...

That was pretty rude don't you think? IMHO the default OSC layout is one heck of a lot better than your site.

zaq do not turn this thread into a flame war.

Zipporah needs to keep the quotes on her board, and, in fact, interbike would lose clients if he removed the "vulgarity"" on his site. These things have nothing to do with the object of this forum.

SOmeone who looked at my site said he couldn't imagine why I would choose to sell what I do, as he wouldn't- what has that got to do with webdesign?

Zipporah, I would make the testament quotes larger, as I mentioned before. Congrats on having repeat customers, I haven't yet!

The 'scattered effect' is because you have probably messed up the tables and the shopping cart appears at the bottom of the centre block, not in column left. On non-default.php pages there is no left column.

The site appear fine on my machine and quite legible. However the graphic text in the top menus might benefit from being with no antialias. And the breadcrumb trail is lost on a white background.

There is also a secure/unsecure warning when going to SSL - probably the images path has been shortened sonewhere.

the tables seem to be blown apart. the boxes from the right column are at the bottom of the screen.

colors and graphics are nice

your breadcrumbs are just sticking out like they don't know where they are suppose to go.

the banner looks really good along with your 'tabs'

colors are nice .. brown and gold go good together

going to create account your ssl is not valid per se especially the dates

the page looks like it doesn't know where it is suppose to go .. everything seems hap hazard I suppose your taking the right column and placing it below everything ... personally I don't think it works there

good luck

(my knowledge is so small you would think that an ant was a genius in comparison)

Your site looks very professional and uncluttered. But, I did notice on your Product Reviews page.

The Reviewer's name is click-able and it brings up their email address. That could be a serious problem, displaying customer's email address to the world. I know I think twice about giving out my email address on the net anyway.

The header navigation bar links to a lot of pages that look misaligned. The home page is really nice. And browsing through the products gives it a professional feel. Then when I hit one of those pages it is alienating. Some are 100% of the window. Some are centered and others are aligned to the left.

I hated the colors at first but as i went through it really grew on me, I really liked this site.

There are many very useful OsC Contributions

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

And remember if you didnt back up its not a big deal, You

just have to do everything all over again.
