EASYPOPULATE DOES NOT POPULATE

hostmedia

Recommended Posts

When I first read about this contribution - easypopulate, I was very excited. I thought it will save me a ton of time. So I download the latest one.

After I have it working, I downloaded my store. And used excel

to make a few changes to test it. I saved it as comma delimited file

and then used the first button (insert into db) to upload it back.

It tells me that it has uploaded successfully, without any error.

However, when I go into my site to check the changes, the changes does not show. I thought it was suppose to overight the previous db.

When I ftp into the temp directory, the file that I just uploaded is sitting there. So now I am confused. Is the upload file surpose to end up in the

temp directory.

By the way, I have done this more than 20 times now and I have searched the forum for a fix and I can't find any.

I am NOT using the split button, which is the second

box. I am using the first box to upload this file, less than 200 items, but changes doesn't take place and file ends up in /catalog/temp/

Can anyone out there help me? I am exausted. But I need this contribution badly.

Steve.

I also can't change price! :-(

1. Snapshot - MS1 (with default DB)

2. So every good has unique Model ID

3. EasyPopulate v. 253

What I do:

4. Save DB (first line)

5. Open file in Exel (for prices - field as TEXT - else sometimes Exel reads it as DATA field !)

6. Change any price (only one field!)

7. Save it as txt file

8. Do import.

No error message.

But the price is the same!

loxly,

If you read my original post it says:

"It tells me that it has uploaded successfully, without any error."

I appreciate your help. However, I need someone who can tell me why

easy populate is sending my files to the temp directly instead of

inserting it in the database. I think that is key to solving the problem.

Thanks.

do a search for easy populate as there were some fairly big threads on this a couple of months back and should make interesting reading and you will probably find the answer you are looking for.

One thing to note, if you file is big then what might be happening is that the server times out before it gets a chance to process the whole file which would give you the scenario you appear to have.

cheers

Tim the EP author here...

First, take it easy on Deborah - she's gold on these forums.

Second, have you followed the troubleshooting steps in the docs?

Please refer to them and let me know how the troubleshooting steps come out.
