A "feature" has been found in the "Bonus #4, price changing on attributes" where if a product is on a special offer AND has attributes...

It looks a bit weird to have only the special price being updated;

28d04-wrong.jpg.f4b2581e56a67868903cc62a267b8070.jpg

In this example, the usual price of $299.99 is on Special at $199.99.  Resulting in this layout;

$299.99 $199.99

By changing the dropdowns, as above, the layout changes to;

$299.99 $369.99

Whereas, it might be better as;

$469.99 $369.99

TL;DR
update the special price AND the normal price.

A cooooolllllllllll shopowner has noticed this and agreed on a beer fee to get the Module updated.
After which it will go out to all as an update.

I will try to get it updated tonight so that it can go out in the morning.

I forgot to mention that I am still looking for any ideas for

  • GDPR modules (I may not have thought of them all!)
    this is priority #1

Thanks

@burt Gary I dont know whether you have given this any thought relating to GDPR, but if a customer unsubscribes at any time from newsletters, and then changes their mind, is there anything that should be done to let the store owner know that a customer has re-subscribed. From in the customers account area there is a check box to change their newsletter settings. Now I use Mailchimp, and I really must contact you about updating to the latest module that you did, but as I dont auto sync my customer lists, I have no way of knowing when a customer re-subscribed to the mailing list.

If a customer lets me know that they wish to re-subscribe I can send them an email from mailchimp that would do this for me, but from the website I have no idea. I sort of hope that this makes sense.

I guess what I am asking is whether something can be done to send an email or something to the store owner if a customer subscribes to the newsletter from the customer account admin area.

I don't think there is anything like that.  Is it needed?

@burt. Gary, I was just thought of thinking that if a customer changes their mind after unsubscribing, there is no way for the store owner to know. Wouldnt something then needed to show that consent was given, and record the date or something of when consent was given. Otherwise should anything happen the store owner has no proof of consent. This only applies to the customer account area where they can change their account preferences. It may just be me over thinking this a bit.

In the account_newsletter.php page is jut a mechanism for unsub/sub to standard osc Newsletter.  There is nothing there to notify the database/shopowner of the actual date of the last action (unsub / sub).

I guess the answer is to have a database table
customers_id, action, identifier etc

But that is basically what the action_recorder system does...

The answer possibly  is to add an action_recorder module to "protect" the tickbox on account_newsletter.php ?

The advantage of using the already inbuilt system;

  1. minimal core code change
    upload new action_recorder module and turn on
    add action_recorder calls in correct places on account_newsletter.php
  2. in my gdpr modules I already have a plugin for the actions
    customer can see their own subs/unsubs

Hi Gary @burt

I'm Guessing that the GDPR modules are for edge / gold only and are not backwards compatible with 2.3.4? as updating to latest version is not an option for me right now.

Many Thanks

They will work, they will just look "ugly" until adding in some .css into the stylesheet.css to make the table more pretty.

Before .css;

After .css added;

Even the delete buttons work!

Gary, @burt

Just testing the GDPR modules and have noticed that the secuity question module works well and protects pages by requesting answers to one of the security questions. Which is perfect!

However, if someone has hacked an account and wants to update the account details, they can find the answers to the secuity questions simply by clicking on :

"secure your account"

or

"view my personal data"

would it be better if the answers are not disclosed, show with ***** only or with a single random letter ****d**

@burt,

Also, when the answers are set, the set_security.php page should only show the questions and the answers displayed as *****

To revise the answers, the customer should be set an email, with a 'key', which is used to confirm the identity of the customer.

The 'key' is then entered on the page to confirm the changes to the answers.

If not, the hacker could change the answers and then change the account details.

I hope that makes sense.

Mike

I do not know what this 28-day-thing is - but I am very interested in some functionality mentioned above ( GDPR - things! )

Where are these changes available/for sale?

Here is the next piece of the GDPR jigsaw puzzle.  If you add up Article 20 and Recital 68...you (shopowner) have to give your customers a way to download their data.  Good luck doing that - what a timesink - you are going to have to collate all of the customers data, create a file, tell them where it is, help them to download it etc.  Bah, let's do all that automatically.

Port My Data Module

port_2.jpg.9dbce893a2ce429daf16f2fced9e740d.jpg

Clicking the Button allows the customer to download all of their data.

port_1.jpg.ef0bf7c58edad134776bc56287ef1b90.jpg

Admin Side.  Just turn it on.

Once I get it fully tested in a live scenario, it'll go out to all and certainly prior to the 25th.

Gary, @burt, I can help too.  I've a test environment with all the current GDPR modules installed, so testing will be easy for me.

And thank you for all the effort you have put in to these modules!

Thanks Mike, appreciated greatly :thumbsup: I think we're good now;

  • I've tested on a couple of new installs - all good.
  • @14steve14 has tested on his live shop - thanks Steve :thumbsup: - all good
  • I have one more tester to respond, and if his results are good...I'll get out the updated modules asap.

I already thought about that, if shopowners need to have some data download feature. Not sure if it is needed but better safe then sorry. Thanks alot! Feeling a bit better regarding the 25th already :)
