SEO URL 5 rewrite option not working

Hi,

When I go to admin and go to seo urls 5 and set the url format to either "rewrite" or "path_rewrite" and when I go to the products page or categories page, it redirects me back to home page. i.e, when I go to http://servername.com/catalog/product-c-31.html, it redirects me to http://servername.com. Any fixes to this problem?

Have you made the changes to the .htaccess file?
