Hi

trying to install OSC from a template and when I go to run the setup I get the error:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator at [email protected] to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

IN the program directory is an .htaccess file which seems to be causing issues.  if I rename to .htaccessbak ad then run the install it all works.

This forum cannot support Third Party templates, as they're all implemented differently. It is the responsibility of the template supplier to support it.

That said, if this .htaccess is causing a 500 error, my guess would be that your host does not permit the Options command. You might comment it out and see what happens. Talk to your host about what a good substitute would be.

If you run (production) without this .htaccess file, you will not be able to process SEO links. It might install, but SEO won't work.

HI

just an update - you were quite correct Fasthosts and 1 to 1 here in the Uk do not allow the "options"  As you suggested I commented it out  and it installed.

I contacted fasthosts who refered me back to the template writer and the template writer basically said my hosting company didn't know what they were doing and were talking rubbish. Finaly he does not support installtion problems so it's all my bag!.

Lesson learnt, do not buy buy templates an if forced to do so get an assurance of a refund if it wont work on your hosting platform.

So I've gone over to using the standard template and learning from that.

Many thanks for the advice

cheers

Ian
