Modular Navbar: Gold -> Edge

Recommended Posts

@@burt

#6 - Popup Cart for Navbar

Good for Edge (Modular Navbar Enabled).
Installing the Modular Navbar into Gold is easy. After that, this is then good for Gold too.

Where would I find Instructions for adding the Modular Navbar to Gold?

(this would be good info to include with the addon)

Malcolm

If you are running the "official" osC 2.3.4 or 2.3.4.1 download, your installation is obsolete! Get the latest community-supported responsive "Frozen" release here

I've added the navbar module to a gold test server, I'll dig out the instructions I made and post them to you

@@ArtcoInc - I took the liberty of splitting the thread...

Pre Step: BACKUP.

1. Uninstall existing Navbar:

admin > modules > content > {uninstall}

2. Make these changes

https://github.com/gburton/Responsive-osCommerce/commit/af86f42854759fb7d8daf29acecba1aa8b96d949

3. Take the files in /includes/modules/navbar_modules/ (as well as relevant language files (from Edge)) and drop into your site structure

4. Visit New link in Admin and install the ones you want:

admin > modules > navbar_modules

5. Install Main Navbar Module:

admin > modules > content > {install}

Modular Navbar is one main content module (CM) and a bunch of sub-modules for it.

Reason for doing this:

Modular Navbar has a lot of settings useable to make it look different, make it sticky and so on.

Navbar sub-modules allow coders to bring out stuff that enable shopowners to not touch code.

Two recent examples are "dropdown search" and "popup cart".

These are the steps I used to get the modular NavBar in BS Gold

FIRST MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR SITE.

Then - uninstall the Gold navbar;

admin > modules > content > {select navbar} > uninstall

Then make these changes:

https://github.com/gburton/Responsive-osCommerce/commit/1d22fe2c95f3af174593cc01cc555ecac80e942b

Then grab the navbar modules from the latest release of Edge:

/includes/modules/navbar_modules/
and their language files.

also grab the admin cfg module files for the navbar  admim/includes/modules/cfg_modules/cfgm_navbar_modules

also grab the edge navigation module from includes/modules/content/navigation

don't forget the related language files

Should take not more than 30 minutes.

At this point, you can now go to admin > modules > navbar_modules and (un)install nav modules etc.

it worked for me!

Navbar, Gold to Edge.zip

Drop these into your site structure.

Navbar module wil be overwritten so ensure you turn it off (in admin) first.

If you wanted to get really fancy you could add the new testimonial page and navbar module. (Except it would require the testimonial sql as well... so maybe a new thread?)
