sanctuarybookshop
I uploaded a new store logo to /catalog/images/store_logo.png, Resized to 200 x 50 px before uploading. It doesn't appear on the website, just shows the broken image symbol and alternative text, it's the same on the html invoices also. I restored the backed up original store logo from original install and still isn't displaying. Any ideas anybody? Paul
burt
Your version of osCommerce is ? Explain precisely how you "uploaded" a new logo... URL of your shop would also help to diagnose the problem.
MrPhil
After uploading the image, did you remember to hit Ctrl+F5 on your browser to force a download of the image file? Can you call up the image directly from your browser address line? If you have "hotlink protection" enabled, you might have to temporarily disable it to make that test. sanctuarybookshop
Need to try my own logo again, does anybody know if it has to be black and white or can it be coloured?
ArtcoInc
It can be color. How are you 'uploading' the file? Have you taken your image, renamed it to store_logo.png, and just moving it to the host? If so, was the original image a .png file? Or, are you using the administrator tool to copy and rename a image file? The administrator tool will take a .png file from anywhere, copy it to the /images folder, and rename it to store_logo.png. sanctuarybookshop
I uploaded it to the images folder by ftp. I uploaded it again calling it store_logo3.png and following the link http://sanctuarybooks.co.uk/catalog/images/store_logo3.png it gives error so must be problem with the image, it shows up ok on my laptop though. sanctuarybookshop
Just created a new logo using cooltext.com Maybe it's something with the image that's the problem, I just had the thought that as it's a png file with transparency that might be part of the problem?
MrPhil
Any browser more modern than IE6 won't have any trouble with PNG transparency. It sounds like you somehow managed to corrupt your store logo. Perhaps you accidentally FTP'd it in ASCII mode rather than binary mode?
sanctuarybookshop
Guys, you are absolute stars !!!!!!!! It was the ftp that was set to ASCII mode, set to auto and it is now uploading perfectly, just can't understand why the stock oscommerce store logo would upload without any problems while was using ASCII mode? MrPhil
The stock logo would not have uploaded correctly with ASCII transfer mode. Either you weren't actually uploading it (just copying from somewhere else on the server), or you actually had FTP in binary mode for that one. sanctuarybookshop
Thats what I thought too, been really confusing, main thing is it's resolved now
burt
Please use the built in admin function to upload Logo. In normal 234 it is basic and allows only a .png to be uploaded. In our responsive 234 it allows any of .png, .jpg, .gif to be uploaded. admin > configuration > store logo
sanctuarybookshop
I'm looking at moving onto the responsive in the future. I'll be trying it out on a test server first before going live with it.
