"Add to Cart" always empty when SSL is on

Recommended Posts

After installing a dedicated SSL on the domain (cowtowncandy.com/store) and setting up the configure files for SSL, any time the "Add to Cart" button is clicked the page displays an empty shopping cart.  I have reviewed many posts related to this issue which all seem to point to incorrect entries in the configure.php, but mine seem to be correct.  The SSL works with or without "www" and I've tried both ways to no avail.  Any suggestions?

admin/includes/configure.php and includes/configure.php:

  define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://cowtowncandy.com');
  define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://cowtowncandy.com');
  define('ENABLE_SSL', true);
  define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'cowtowncandy.com');
  define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'cowtowncandy.com');
  define('HTTP_COOKIE_PATH', '/');
  define('HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH', '/');
  define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://cowtowncandy.com');
  define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://cowtowncandy.com');
  define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'true');
  define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://cowtowncandy.com');
  define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://cowtowncandy.com');
  define('ENABLE_SSL', true);
  define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'cowtowncandy.com');
  define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'cowtowncandy.com');
  define('HTTP_COOKIE_PATH', '/');
  define('HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH', '/');
  define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/store/');
  define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/store/');

or try putting a dot in front of the domain name as so:

  define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', '.cowtowncandy.com');
  define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', '.cowtowncandy.com');

I am not a professional webmaster or PHP coder by background or training but I will try to help as best I can.

I remember what it was like when I first started with osC. It can be overwhelming.

However, I strongly recommend considering hiring a professional for extensive site modifications, site cleaning, etc.

There are several good pros here on osCommerce. Look around, you'll figure out who they are.

That didn't work either, Steve.  Seems I neglected to notice that I can no longer "Sign In" as a customer.  The page simply refreshes and prompts me to sign in, again.  I can still login to admin side, though.

OK, probably need a more skilled person than me to come up with the solution, but I'll mention that in the past I had a problem with signing in and it was a cookie/cache issue apparently.

Switching to another browser I could sign in but back to Chrome, I  could not.

Had to do some purging of data in history for Chrome then it worked.  May not apply to your situation but there it is.

Ok just checked my set up, and it is much the same as yours, but have you tried putting www. in front of all the domain name occurances? - worth a try

Now running on a fully modded, Mobile Friendly 2.3.4 Store with the Excellent MTS installed - See my profile for the mods installed ..... So much thanks for all the help given along the way by forum members.

I understand 100% the frustration of giving time and effort, only for it to be thrown in your face.

Just the other day I was called a [removed] by someone I spent a lot of 1-on-1 time with - that person is now persona-non-grata in terms of getting help from me. I think that's the best way, do what you can until the person decides that you/your help is no longer good enough, after which just ignore them.
