Responsive osCommerce - Bootstrap

Recommended Posts

I particularly like how when going through the checkout process, the shipping address and method are displayed in one panel style, and the billing address and payment method in another.

The separation is good for taking in the info at a glance, and the different classes will make css customization a breeze.

I was also thinking a simple text box, which the store owner control's by way of the modules language file. This makes it modular, yet also easily customizable without a lot of markup.

bm_text.php coded and ready. Good idea @

Footer can now be seen live: http://www.template.me.uk/2334bs3/index.php

Remember that these footer components are controlled the same way as normal infoBoxes - you can sort them, you can remove them, you can add new ones. But with this ease brings limitations - you need to know how to code an infoBox so that it is available for you to include it into the Footer via the admin > modules > boxes page.

I am in desperate need of some payment icons (vias, mastercard, paypal) which must be GPL or MIT license and distributable. Anyone got any or know where to get some?

You can use the set for all of your projects for free and without any restrictions. You can freely use it for both your private and commercial projects, including software, online services, templates and themes. The set may not be resold, sublicensed or rented.

Looks nice... The information box reminds me that oscommerce should definitely have a way to make info pages in admin, with the option of including the page link in the box or not.

Indeed there is Grandpa - have a look at the two test sites;

Gary's at : http://wsfive.com/bs-master/

Mine at : http://www.template.me.uk/2334bs3/

They are running the same core code, with some subtle differences. Some things from Garys are scheduled to be included into mine. Vice versa. Report any bugs or inconsistencies to this thread. Or any ideas you might have if you have seen any sites you really like and want us to look at for inspiration.

The more people can become involved in this project, the better chance it has of being released on schedule...

Agreed. Could be the first addon ?

Hi

Several months ago when I was tossing up whether to update our site using Oscommerce or Zen Cart, I came very close to using this one with a few modifications and a general appearance tidy up. maybe it could help give further "inspiration. The one thing that I really disliked about his template was that the product boxes were always uneven, and to me could show a lack of proffesionlism(?) about the site.

Heres the link

With your test site and Gary's is it Ok to create account etc.

Hi Gary

Did you notice the change in layout when the browser window was dragged smaller, that was what I was calling "responsive"

I can't see any change at all. I just see the standard green ZenCart site ?

Hi

I hope that these comments will not cause you to waste time and not really comments you are looking for at the moment. I tend to start from the "back' when ever I do a project. So I have started here by Creating an Account and purchasing, using your link.

When creating my account I noticed that I was asked for the State to be completed yet that didn't have the little asterisck to the right hand side.

The edit buttons were all screwed up with the exception of the one on the top far right of the word purchases.

Also it would be good to hve some back buttons on the payment info checkout shipping pages, in fact all 3 pages in this area.

I think I would like to see the Log Off button instead of appearing on another row perhaps "popup" to the right og the "My Account" button.

The only other comment would be, and I think I have read this earlier, is the variation in size of the boxes in the New Products for the Month.

I think you guys are doing a great job and please tell me to "buttout" if my comments seem petty.

Cheers

John

I am using FireFox browser

At the bottom of the three pages in the checkout, you have a 1 -- 2 -- 3 stepwizard, I could make the text underneath these into links...

Thoughts anyone?

Hi

Adding ‘Back’ buttons is probably a good idea, or maybe the words in the stepwizzard could be made into links. however it may loose even more customers comments

Remenber here

http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/393117-lost-customer-comments/

and here

http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/tracker/issue-593-add-comments-to-your-order/

Comments typed on one page should be viewable and editable on the next – Even if going backwards.

checkout_confirmation.php looks fine with all my browsers. The buttons line up correctly.

Footer looks Great although ‘Securely Log Off’ sounds a bit strange. ‘Log Off Securely’ or ‘Secure Log Off’ perhaps?

Regards

Ken

Ah, that's better. I see it now.

@@burt @@grandpaj Now that`s a decent responsive design. I like the way they moved the bulk of the navigation items/links to other areas of the site, to the main navbar, pulled the new products, specials and featured items into a separate navbar placed in the main area of the site so that it carries into the responsive designs. That has pretty much allowed them to drop the info boxes when going to smaller views. I'm not sure about the footer disappearing but it looks like most of that stuff can be found the main navigation bar. Very interesting.

Thanks for sharing it John.
