Guest
Hi Is there a module or a way to achieve shipping per category? I have a store which has multiple categories but only needs to offer two different shipping rates, Plus a free delivery option for orders over £x.xx? Can i do this by assigning specific weights the two types? Would be interested in people views or if there is an addon out there. Thanks
♥bruyndoncx
I don't know of such a module, but I did customize my site and added a weight field to the category to default to if a products weight is missing, which is an easy extension, not to difficult to put this switch into any weight based shipping module. my weight field is a copy of the sort order code, so whenever I came across sort_order in categories.php, I added a line for categories_weight ... So if you are still here ? What are you waiting for ?! ♥kymation
The first part should be possible the way you said. Use the Table shipping module and set it for weight, then set up the table so it give the proper shipping cost for each weight. Customers ordering multiple items with the lower weight could get the higher cost if the weights add up, so take that into consideration when choosing your weights. The second part can be done by setting the stock osCommerce free shipping option or by adding a free shipping module from the Addons area.
