bbott
I am experiencing duplicate content issues. Somehow Google has indexed duplicate product pages for my website. There is a trailing underscore after the product ID which is causing duplicate pages. I tried to replicate the issue using the demo oscommerce storefront, and I was successful. As you see below, the first URL is the correct URL. However I was able to modify the URL by adding an '_' and any numerical value, and the system generated the same page. Any ideas how to fix this? http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27 (REAL URL) http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_22 (MODIFIED) http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_23 (MODIFIED) http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_24 (MODIFIED) http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_25 (MODIFIED) http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_26 (MODIFIED) http://demo.oscommerce.com/product_info.php?products_id=27_27 (MODIFIED)
ozEworks
As long as you have a "products_info?products_id=27" in the URL pretty much any variation on it will still find the page. This is not the issue. Your issue for your site is not the URL per se but the fact Google indexed them. How did the Google spider navigate your site and find those URLs? burt
Install canonical header_tag module, and make a code change to force the canonical URL to an Integer. https://github.com/gburton/oscommerce2/commit/5cc508cc1cc54d7808a8a09caf872ed1719408fd
