Did you find any spaces or blank lines?
on the bottom
Are you able to through your FTP program view a file on your server?
If so, view /includes/functions/general.php and see if they are still there.
Also, are you on a Mac?
And what are you using to edit your files with?
I am able to edit the files in the control panel...I am not on a mac
they were stll there....I don't know why....
Much of your problem is using Control Panel to edit your files.
It is placing spaces and blank lines on critical files that are needed in the software and php does not like this.
Do you have FTP access to your site?
Do you have a nice FTP software?
Did your hosting site provide you with the information to connect to your site via FTP?
I don't have the files on my hard drive to upload.......I do have FTP but I don't have the files to upload...
If you have FTP, you could make a directory on your computer C:internetoscommerce
And download your whole site into that directory via FTP and now you have the whole thing on your computer
Now you edit the files on your computer with something like UltraEdit or NoteTab Pro
Then you reload the file via FTP back to your site.
Keeping a copy on your local computer is also a good idea in case Joe Blow hosting site takes off for Bermuda tomorrow and your site fades away into the sunset.
I can use FTP to take stuff from my site and put it on my hard drive???
Once you connect to your website via FTP ...
Place your empty directory C:internetoscommerce in the left panel and your oscommerce (like /public_html/shop) in the right
Highlight everything on the right and click right there should be a Transfer option ... select that ... go get a smoke and in abywhere from 5 minutes to an hour depending on your connection the whole site is on your system ...
Speaking of which ... I need a smoke ... :D
2 problems there...
1) I have REALLY slow internet......26k
2) I don't have FTP......I ALWAYS uploaded one file at a time....
Make a directory on your computer:
Turn on your FTP
Log into your site
Download into C:internetoscommerceshopincludesfunctions the file from the site /shop/includes/functions/general.php
Edit it with NotePad or a good Text editor like ULTRA Edit or NoteTab Pro
Remove the spaces and blank lines and reload it to your site.
Then say when you are done.
ok...I can upload 1 file at a time....BUT when I edit it with NotePad I get all sorts of weird stuff.....All mubo jumbo...
what do I use to edit PHP???
NoteTab Pro ...
You can get UltraEdit from:
ok I got one....
Ok...I re-uploaded that file....
Can you do the same thing to:
Make sure there are not spaces or blank lines at the top or bottom.
Coolness ... :D
First bug is fixed.
Your application_top.php appears to have had the blank spaces or lines or was damaged in some manner that you just fixed by editing and reloading it and I am no longer getting the errors on the pages I was getting them on before.
Okay ... now let's go one step at a time.
What is the first thing that appears broken to you? Be sure to test it first now that your application_top.php is working right.
ummm I don't know what is broken.....I am very new at this
What I mean is ...
What do you think is broken? As in what questions do you need answered now that this part is working?
why my prices are going up...
Okay now that the file is working.
Peek at the copy of application_top.php that is on your computer and see what the:
Is set to.
Set to false and upload the file to /shop/includes if you see it is set to true
its set on false
