Remove htpasswd check

Recommended Posts

I use nginx and have my admin in a renamed directory with IP address restriction.

the "Additional Protection With htaccess/htpasswd" functionality is not compatible with my webserver so how can I turn off it's warnings?

Why bother trying to turn off the warnings as long as you know the admin is secured?

Because it's hideous and makes people who don't know what a web server is that have to access the admin area FREAK OUT that something is wrong.

I won't discuss the wisdom of having lots of people with Admin access to your site, but that would concern me (especially if they're such neophytes that they wouldn't know a web server if it bit them in the behind).

Anyway, isn't all that stuff in the .htaccess file itself, rather than in PHP? You should be able to comment out the lines in your .htaccess file concerned with passwords and other such security items, if your server doesn't support them and/or you're sure you have an adequate replacement.

Mr Phil,

nginx doesn't use the .htaccess files that apache does. I don't have apache installed on this server :)
