Paul Baglin
Hi all, Having problems with Google crawling my site. Have downloaded the updated spiders.txt file and put that on the server, uploaded a robots.txt file to the root directory and google can access the following pages ok, www.mydomain.com www.mydomain.com/index.html www.mydomain.com/catalog/index.html but keeps returning a 500 internal server error when I put in a link to a product on my site, such as: www.mydomain.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/62 Any ideas? Thanks.
germ
Your links are all wrong. In your Admin, set 'Use Search-Engine Safe URLs (still in development)' to false. Save it. Sometimes you have to set 'Use Cache' to false to see any change. The link should be: www.mydomain.com/catalog/product_info.php&products_id=62 If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. Paul Baglin
Just tried all that and it's still coming up with a 500 internal server error. Google just doesn't seem to be able to access any cart page of my store.
germ
Well I did screw up the link. :- A normal link would be this instead: www.mydomain.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=62 If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. Paul Baglin
Lol, it was right anyway, it's just that it still doesn't seem to let Google in! The link looks like www.mydomain.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=62 As Google is accessing my 'normal' pages fine, there is obviously a problem with the scripts within OSCommerce somewhere along the line, I just don't know where, and Google are giving me conflicting information, when they can be bothered to reply.
