Rogue Swedish Bot

Just thought I would share this with everyone. There is a new bot from Sweden that doesn't follow the robots.txt. It is identified as:

 

 

WocBot/Mozilla/5.0 (Wocodi Web Crawler 1.0; http://www.wocodi.com/crawler; [email protected])

 

I tried to go to the website mentioned and also tried to email the bot controller but did not receive a response so I blocked the bot from my websites to protect my content.

Hi Chris, I don't think it's from Sweden at all. I did some digging and came up with:

I also found that their CTO is a Swedish guy, a Mr Johnsson or something. Also the site is listed at spamhouse.org

 

My advice is to block that domain.

Hi Sara, I didn't check the domain name registrar to follow up with the origin but that bot accesses my site(s) each time from the following IP:

 

109.74.10.161 (Sweden) - 109-74-10-161-static.serverhotell.net

 

That's why I assumed a Swedish Bot.
