USPS Domestic Rate Calculator API (RateV4) - What changes do I need to make?

Greetings. I have been away for a while. Running older customized osc v2.2 RC2a.

I received a nastygram from USPS saying I was using an older version of the Domestic Rate Calculator. Yup. Probably.

They say I have to fix it before March 31, 2012. Something about supporting requirements for inputting package dimensions ... Fine.

After a few quick searches, I still do not know the best course to take. Is there an updated USPS Shipping Module (USPS Methods?) to use?

Or do I need to upgrade to v3.x at some point? I vaguely remember the headache from the last upgrade to v2.x. Yes, I am that old.

Please, kind souls. Can someone spare me some grief and point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

I too am looking for a solution to this. I bought my site pre-built, so I know little about doing these types of upgrades, or migrating to this new USPS version. I am running an older version osc 2.2-MS2, so any and all help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone!

I am still looking for a solution to this issue. I know that we're not supposed to bump the topic, but I really need to get this figured out before the deadline of March 31, 2012 and am hoping and praying that one of the OsCommerce gurus can help/point me in the right direction.

Brightest Blessings,

Here's the link to download an updated version of the USPS shipping module: http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/487

Backup your database and files before even attempting to upgrade. v6.1a doesn't work for all sites (if I recall correctly, I read some complaints about it breaking a few things). I personally use USPS Methods 5.2.2 - COMPLETE by fulluvscents uploaded on Apr. 7, 2011. If you use that version, you'll need to manually change 3 lines of code (Post #1213 @ http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/topic/146950-contribution-usps-methods/page__st__1200) in order for it to work today.

I've just uploaded a new USPS contribution with a much needed coding update. The contribution is VERY simple, but the code is clean and efficient. It includes international and domestic regular, flat rate, and regional options.

"USPS Methods" after v. 5.2.1 are all V4 compatible, although they are all still a little buggy and are resource hogs. Methods can be found at the link posted by a.forever.

The new module can be found here:

And I have started a support thread here:

Hi Jetta!

Thank you so much for your reply and what I hope is a fix to this issue! Again, I am running an older version osc 2.2-MS2 with just the regular USPS shipping module that came along with my site when I bought it. I do not have USPS Methods installed, nor do I have experience with installing contributions. So with all that said and since you're clearly more knowledgeable than myself, will your contribution work with my site? Please advise.

Yes, it will work, and it is easy to install.

The stock USPS modules are all outdated now, even the one that comes with 2.3.1. USPS Methods is not outdated technically (although it's still missing some methods), but the script has gotten far in excess of what it needs to be. I think the community was probably ready for a fresh USPS module, especially with the major changes that USPS has been making.

Please join us on the thread where the new mod is being discussed so that we can keep all the discussions in one place. If you need personal install assistance, then you can PM me. But, for anything generally related to the module, I prefer to keep discussions in the appropriate threads.
