Solveit-uk
Hi.. Basically i wanted the easypopulate so i downloaded "easy populate for ver 2.2" Firstly have i got the correct version.? My Ecommerce is: (osCommerce Online Merchant v2.2 RC2a.) Then i unzipped it and read the readme file which says: (Just copy and replace /admin/easypopulate.php) Thats It.. Nothing else. So as one to follow instructions thats what i have done. "only i didnt replace it because it wasnt there in the first place" So im wondering Now What.? I log into Admin and see Nothing. Now ive read a post where the guy was told to read and follow the instructions but as i said all i got was that line.? No setting up info ect. So can anyone give me a quick "what to do to get it working".? I see lots of easypopulate programs out there and i got ver 2.2 thinking thats the one i had to get because my oscommerce is ver 2.2 and the first one i saw said for ver 2.3 i think. Have i got the right easypopulate or.? Thanks Any1 for your time. I have searched about but cant find a setup post or to answer if i actually have the correct ver in the first place. Cheers. Carl. ======================================================= Oh & i dont suppose any1 knows how to delete the words "osCommerce Online Merchant v2.2 RC2a." on the main page.? web-project
You need to read the installation notes, as normally you need to link the module with admin interface, not just upload new file. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. ♥geoffreywalton
It looks like you did read the installation instructions just that you did not read the package description. Some people just upload the 1 file they have "fixed". Click on the history tab and look for a download that has "complete package" or some thing similar in the description. Then you might need to download and install the "fixes" that come after. Solveit-uk
Click on the history tab and look for a download that has "complete package" or some thing similar in the description. (you did not read the package description) I looked but i couldnt see anything with this in the title.? Nor can i find installation instructions for which ever package i have got.? I see other packages but i dont want to install something that is going to give me problems, hence why i asked "have i got the right ver". Can you point me to a relavant correct d/l and installation guide link plzz. And thnx ever so much for your help/advice btw guys ;) Cheers. blackwater
It can be confusing when you have several different versions, similar titles and partial uploads by multiple contributors. How should a newbie sort this out? Look for the package , review the various uploads, look for full or partial uploads, decide on who is currently supporting the package, find the support thread in the forum to put all this together. Not the greatest scheme, but this is how it currently is. Don't get frustrated, this is something basic that you should learn to do if you are going to use oscommerce. Another thing is, if you have never installed the package before and and instruction says "replace" what action is logical from that. I have copied the php file to where it says but dont know what to do from there.? Cant find anything anywhere on what to do to install it hence the frustation just being told to look about, i have :( TBH if im right i think that this easypopulate isnt a natural addon or there would be clear and easy to find instructions on it, am i right in saying its a module people have made themselves and its been modded for what ever reason by others hence the many different ones you can d/l and therefore this is why i cant find clear instructions on it. Either way i cant understand it and after looking and looking as i have done the thing is I Dont understand it and wanted some pointers. I'll Just leave it for now, as im not getting pointed to the one i should get, i just want to upload these csv files of stock, THATS ALL. Cheers for your deliverance bud. CARL. Solveit-uk
Just got that one mate. followed it from the "history tab" yes i found the history tab woohoo, but my heads in typing these in now, and ive done alot. took me all night lol. I think ive lost interest in easypopulate now, been trying to sort it for too long now. Had enough, thanks anyhows bud.. I think i need an empty shop to start with that easy populate. its not easy to use or understand. i may even change shopping cart tbh, its murder sorting it out, and full of ways to hack it apparently. i'll sleep on it. blackwater
Yes , that's the one . You should now install it, export what you have so far to csv, update this csv with new records at the end (maintaining the format), and reimport this updated csv. In excel you should change cells that will contain product codes beginning with zero to text. Edited January 9, 2011 by blackwater
Solveit-uk
Hmmm Well what i will do first is, because one section is furniture and the place i get stock from doesnt provide a csv.. then i will enter these products manually (why i have no choice) then i'll do that what your saying, or at leaste have a go. and fiddle then. Ofcourse i will do a full site and sql backup before i fiddle as always :) Blackwater mate cheers bud, honest. i appreciate your time thank you bud. I might be getting back to you :P Cheers.
