problem with cart cookie addon

I installed this addon : http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/5390 which is supposed to saved cart contents into a cookie and then display the products in the cart when the visitor appears next -- even before they log in.

The install was pretty straight-forward. However, it's not working. When I leave the site and then return, my cart is empty until I login. (That's how it was before, and the point of installing this addon was to get the products to appear before logging in.) I viewed the cookies saved for this domain, and I see the cookie with all the cart products. Even so, it's not being used to display the saved cart contents.

I have a lot of other addons already installed. Would any of them be interfering with this?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
