If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. And the company that can decide if you are PCI compliant or not, the financial institutions you have accounts with, don't have the ability to shut down your site. So you need to figure out what "shut down" means. If your shop is not available to the Internet, then that is your hosts fault and only they can tell you why. But if it is just that one of your payment modules isn't working, then you would need to contact the company you have that service through.
