KissMT Dynamic SEO Meta & Canonical Header Tags

Recommended Posts

will this section in the lang. file fix that issue?

* Generic pages

* Here you can build meta tags for any of the peripheral pages simply by creating two defines

* KISSMT_XXXXX_TITLE_TEXT and KISSMT_XXXXX_DESCRIPTION_TEXT

* the XXXXX must be the name of the file ( less the .php ) in capitals

* If there is a %s in the KISSMT_XXXXX_TITLE_TEXT this is replaced with the page HEADING_TITLE

also I am using firefox with web dev tools and I am still getting the Conical page link in the browser ie / or index.php

Thanks again,

Eric

Sorry bout that its been a long night, I got everything working ok but just a second ago I tried to view the site and got this

Fatal error: Call to a member function add_current_page() on a non-object in /home/public_html/includes/application_top.php on line 312

but then now its gone, lol guess its time to call it a night :wacko:

The question I was asking about earlier is I dont want conical pages ie site.com/ and site.com/index.php just one or the other but I am still getting both.

Thanks for your time

Here is a list of german stopwords:

Fantastic Thomas .. thanks very much!

Hi,

here is another list:

http://solariz.de/download-7

Perhaps you can implement it as a second stopword list, because it is much bigger than the first one so german users can decide which one they will use.

Your Error Handler works well: :)

E_STRICT Error Count: 1

Error: Non-static method KissMT_Modules::stripStopWords() cannot be called statically, assuming $this from compatible context KissMT_Module

File: includes/modules/kiss_meta_tags/abstracts/kiss_modules.php

Line: 134

This error occurs when I visit index.php

Is it possible to completely rid index.php from site? I have switched the conical setting to true then to false, and still have reffernces to index.php

What I mean by refferences is links that have FILENAME_DEFAULT in them the page goes to index.php

I would like to have it go to mysite.com/ only

I use firefox with web tools thus enables me to see that there is a conical page.

Any ideas or thoughts?

Thank you for your time

Sorry but I don't understand what you are saying/asking.

If you go to www.mysite.com/index.php, what is the canonical element containing?

The canonical element is mysite.com/ which is duplicate content, which i would like to remove all instances of links containing /index.php and have no duplicate content

Thanks

if the canonical element of www.mysite.com/index.php is www.mysite.com/ then it is www.mysite.com/index.php that will be removed from the index.

Most people want to retain www.mysite.com/ as it is generally the domain name that is marketed, whereas the www.mysite.com/index.php virtually never is.

Yes sir that's correct I found the problem I was trying to explain. The shop I was working on was in a different directory other than the root such as public html/root/this_directory

once I was complete and moved it to their server in the root directory, the canonical tag displayed the way I had wanted it to thus removing index.php.

Not sure if that's a bug or if I just didn't have something set correctly or not

Never the less the issue is now resolved and I appreciate your patience.

And this mod and most like all of your others is by far the easiest to do. "KISS" is just that easy!

Keep up the great work and

Thank you

Yes Marcus .. that is correct. The source code should be html entities but when viewing the site it should display as usual.

Hi Robert,

Great job again.

Thank you for your great work.

Although I have questions :

The meta description ends up like this in the source code : <title>KISSMT_HOMEPAGE_TITLE</title>

<meta name="description" content="KISSMT_HOMEPAGE_TITLE, KISSMT_HOMEPAGE_DESCRIPTION">

And I would like to know if there is a way to just end up with <meta name="description" content="KISSMT_HOMEPAGE_DESCRIPTION"> since this how my websites have been indexed for the moment with good results.

What's your point of view on this ? Which one is better and why ?

Also I cannot get the shortwords or smallwords extensions working in french is there anything to enable to get it working other than creating and uploading the files ?

Thanks for any clue

Vincent

Hi..

How can I use (if I can) KissMT with STS?

In catalog/includes/modules/sts_inc/general.php I have this line:

$sts->template['headertags']= "<title>" . TITLE ."</title>";

Is there a way to use KissMT here? If yes, how?

(osCommerce VTS now also checks for leading and trailing whitespace and also have a grep function)

I have experimented a bit with this.

This is working here:

//$sts->template['headertags']= "<title>" . TITLE ."</title>";
include_once DIR_WS_MODULES . 'kiss_meta_tags/kiss_meta_tags.php';
$sts->template['headertags']= KissMT::init()->output();

Is this ok to use or is there a better/safer way to do it?

Hi sorry for my late reply I'm rather busy with commercial stuff. I don't use STS but if it is printing out the correct data then it should be fine.

The keywords are made up of the description/title automatically.

The keywords are made up of the description/title automatically.

If you add your own meta tags for description and keywords while using KissMT you end up with two descriptions and two key word meta tags. Do you know what the search engines do when they encounter two tags for the same thing?
