has any one managed to get cool menue apear in a category box ?

all i manage to get is the coolmenu ontop of the rest of the boxes. reda through the thread(pheeew takes a while ;) ) but couldnt find anywhere that there is a fix for that . is this menu supposed to apear as a float on top of what ever else ? if any one has managed to actually place it in a box, i would love to get a look on their code, or better yet maybe post an update to contrib ? i noticed there is a contrib update that is called 'add coolmenu' but when i added it it gave errors(seems like it need to be renamed to cool menu than placed in the catalog/include category and not as structured catalog/include/boxes... but there were not instructions with it so maybe i am doing it wrong.

please help me, get this working .

I has downloaded the lasted Coolmenu contribute from the website (name Coolmenu_box, 31 mar). It's very simple to install. There is only 1 php file (besite 2 tiny image file). Just only copy and rename it to categories.php an it work !

But, there is a big problem about the position and the site of the menu! It's stay alone althought the window resize. It's out of the categories box. The size is not fit within the categories box's boder !

Who can help me ?! I saw many site use this contribute but they don't have the problem like me ! This contribute is so cool and quickly for loadpage ! (I using the dynamenu. It is easy to install too and there no problem but the size of all files of dynamenu is too large : ~200kB !)

There should be a variable somewhere to set the time it takes for the menu to disappear onMouseout. I have not looked at the code in a while but there should be a setting for that somewhere....I think.

I got this to work some days ago..

First of all if the menu isnt on the right place you have to open /includes/coolmenu.php and then find:

//Menu properties

oCMenu.pxBetween=0

oCMenu.fromLeft=6 <-change this

oCMenu.fromTop=134 <- change this

oCMenu.rows=0

This will make it appear on different places.

Search for "oCMenu.pxBetween=0" or something like that to find the lines, I changed the numbers so if you search for the hole text you wont find it.

If the frame under the coolmenu isnt in the right place you have to go to

/includes/boxes/coolmenu.php and find:

$info_box_contents[] = array('text' => '

<img src="images/trans.gif" width="145" height="66"' . $height . '">');

I changed the numbers here too so you cant search for the hole text, just search for "height" or "width" then change them so you get the right size on your frame.

Now everything should work if you installed everything right. If you use IE and hold over the menu it will slowly appear and if you use firefox the menu will just open at once. :)

By the way, does anyone know how to make it appear faster in IE?

disable this:

 oCMenu.level[0].filter="progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Fade(duration=0.8)"

or set the duration to 0

Hi guys, we're building our website now, and i looked up under the contributions about the coolMenu but i can't figure out how to position it right. I've read most of the 3 year discussion on this forum but i'm still lost.

I integrated everyhitng properly everything works fine, except the layout. Whenever i change the resolution of my screen my menu moves.

Please take a look am my website and let me know what i'm doing wrong:

IBM OUTLET USA

I've played around with:

oCMenu.fromLeft=10

oCMenu.fromTop=110

but nothing.

Please if anyone knows how to properly center it maybe drop me an email or post here.

Thank you.

Is there any way to use coolmenu with centershop, I myself cant think of a way to do it. You can just fit the coolmenu in one res when you use centershop and only because you have to manually move it you will get the menu box at the wrong place if someone with another res enter the site.

Please tell me if theres a way to fix this

If you are looking for a fixed position, like the standaard osCommerce menu, and a vertical fly-out menu, I've just contributed CSS Menu v0.1 which wil show you the same sort of menu, which is fully customizable using CSS-properties! There is also a screenshot included in the package.

I'm trying 4 different browsers here but each time the cool menu is some different place. Any ideas how I can make it look the same in every browser? If it can't be done then I'm just not going to add this one because I don't want my site to have different looks per browser.

Some time (long) ago I wrote a guide on this forum on how I did it.

You can see the result here http://cinter.dk/

Try to open it in different browsers and see if it works.

Hi osCommerce-Community.

What do you think about the coolMenu on http://www.geraeteland.de ?

Does it work with all browsers?

I need to know this because i want to release a contribution for this menu on oscommerce.com soon but i need to that its bugfree...

Greetings

^

Hello, I've followed the instructions and installed the cool menu on my OS Commerce site. It is quite nice, product categories are correctly scanned and displayed dynamically.

Only big issue: The cool menu is hiding part of the banner and part of next Box which is the search Box.

Does anyone knows where the problem could come from.

Thanks a lot for your help,

Greetings

Alex

Hi guys,

I have searched through this entire thread - and I can find other people having the same problem - but I cannot find any solutions to it :(

I am also using STS V4 with the Headers and InfoBox contributions. I believe I have installed everything correctly and added the tags where they need to be - but I'm getting that garbled JavaScript Code:

"); document.write(" "); document.write("

""
"); document.write(" Product Categories
"); document.write(" ""
"); document.write("
"); document.write("
"); document.write(""); document.write(" "); document.write("

"); document.write(" "); document.write(" "); document.write(" "); document.write("

""
"); document.write("
"); document.write("

"); document.write("
"); document.write("
"); document.write("

""
"); document.write("
"); document.write("
"); document.write("
"); document.write("
"); document.write("
"); document.write("

"); //-->

Here is the page - http://mmherbs.dreamhosters.com

According to the IE Browser - the error is a missing ")"

I am really hoping one of the other people who had this same problem still has (or knows) the fix for it and posts it here as it appears to not be all that uncommon of a problem - yet the answers have not yet been put in the forum :huh:

Thank you very much for your assistance :D

When COOLMENU is being used, then the menu's are generated through javascript.

I have often seen errors caused by people putting this sign ['] (the one inside the brackets) in a product or category name. That won't do in javascript. If you want to do that you have to backslash the sign

right

Like you I gave up too!!!! COOL MENU ain't sooooo COOL I found!

Nigelman :thumbsup:

A little harsh really. The contibution does what it says on the tin and was the only thing available at the time it was submitted.

Like every contribution, to have it work for yourself, you need to put some time and effort into adapting it.

If you are just wanting to download stuff for free and use it there and then without any work, you will not succeed.

I used this menu on three of my accounts, amended them according to how they needed to work and they have worked fantastically.

Please remember, the creator of this contribution had done a lot of work and made their work available for others to use free of charge.

If at first you don't succeed. Find the answer on a Forum.

I do appreciate the work that went into creating this menu - however, it ended up not working for me as it took weeks to get a response on the forum and I had no idea what was going wrong. I found the Dynamenu contribution - installed it and had absolutely no problems whatsoever. Since the problem I was having seems to be not so uncommon - maybe the creator could consider including the backslashing of certain characters in the instructions ;)

Hello:

I made a visual change in my site to get it centered. I inserted a
from the header to the footer to make a margin to the left and to the right of the page.I configured the DIV in the css to be left:30%

Then I reconfigured the coolmenu with changing the fremleft=xxx to the new position of the categories box.

But there is a problem, while I see the menu in the correct position, if you open the site from a pc with a different resolution, the coolmenu get deplaced to the right.

Do anybody know how to solve this??

THANKS

Hi All,

I have sat down and read nearlly all of the this thread and everyone seems to have the same problem (unless I missed the solution when reading) of getting this script to work on centred sites.

I also look forward to a solution on this. Other than that this is a really simple contribution to install and works perfectly well. I wish all contributions were this good and easy.

I look forward to someone's reply on how to get this working with centred sites.

Till next time.
