Mixing Virtual/Physical products

How does it work?

 

If a customer buys only virtual they skip shipping - correct

If a customer buys only physical they pay shipping or it's free over a certain amount - correct

 

So what's the problem?

 

If they mix they get charged shipping, which isn't a problem as they have physical products, BUT the virtual products shouldn't be taken into account.

 

What code would look at whether it is virtual(attributes) or not & only calculate the table rate on the physical products(without attributes). Then they get charged shipping on physical products only & not get free shipping because their virtual products are being taken into account too.

 

Pleeeease could I have some advise on this? :) :) :)
