ULTIMATE Seo Urls 5 - by FWR Media

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon FWR Media,

Firstly many thanks for developing SEO URLs 5.

I have installed this and I have it working on my test site (CRE Loaded CE / PHP 5.2.12 (Zend: 2.2.0)), I have proved it is working by turning it on and off and viewing the urls. I have selected rewrite for the URL type and modified the .htaccess file.

SEO URLs off

http://www.mpclothing.co.uk/onlineshop1/product_info.php?cPath=1_2&products_id=69&osCsid=0a741e2d3451ec607b3ed066a7495ce8

SEO URLs on

http://www.mpclothing.co.uk/onlineshop1/ampeg-svt-1000-p-69.html?osCsid=0a741e2d3451ec607b3ed066a7495ce8

My issue is with the osCid - have I missed something when modifying all the files or not completed a coding change, in the config I have set, add c path to urls =false

I would appreciate your help and advice.

Regards - Osmond

Chances are that the configurations aren't set up properly that is why the oscid is appearing so many times. Generally at most it appears on the first click. On my sites they do not even appear most of the time.

I have been digging and reading up on this and I have came to the conclusion it was something to do with my config. I eventually narrowed it down to a cookie setting on my shop, I enabled it and hey presto all working sweet!

I did have to revert the code on the html_output.php page back to the original version as my buy now button was clicking through to an empty cart page - but all works very well now.

Thanks for the advice.

Hello everybody.

I wonder if this version is working in multilanguage mode. I Want address like:

www.my-site.com/my-product

www.my-site.com/en/my-product

www.my-site.com/it/my-product

etc,

Would it be possible with USU 5?

USU5 PRO does this and a lot more but currently needs beta testers see .. http://forums.oscommerce.com/topic/349814-ultimate-seo-urls-5-pro/

If you are willing to beta test then post your intention there please.

Yes I have seen this before, one user has 50,000 products and had the same issue, send me a personal email and I'll send back the modded files.

Hi FWR Media,

I am seeing the same problem with my site. I reset the cache and it seemed to fix the problem (at least temporarily). Could you possibly send a copy of the updated files to me as well??

Thanks!

Robert,

I've been experiencing a slight problem with a part of this contribution and hoped you might be able to lend some advice / support. The problem occurs with the manufacturers.php file located in includes/boxes/ and the drop down menu associated with listing the brand names. Because it operates as a form with post, when users click through the drop down and then attempt to navigate back their web browser informs them they need the form material to continue. No the biggest problem in the world, however, with the increasing popularity of Chrome we have made it a high priority to fix. In Google Chrome the user gets a completely blank page when they click the back button until they refresh. Maybe you have a suggestion to fix this? I tried it with the most recent modification and had the same issue. Your input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Ryan B.

hi,

i have a shop where i installed in the past CCGV and used to work fine

then in the past few months i installed ULTIMATE_Seo_Urls_5_r141_stable and KissMT_1.0_r72_RC plus SecurityPro 1.0.2 amnd other security packages.

i realised now that when in the CCGV some one tries to send a voucher to some one stopped working

basically i get the following message:

Error!

Unable to determine the page link!

i am not sure since which contribution this happened. in fact i am not sure at all if the above acotributions are the ones to create the problem but as far as i can remembar before installing them this feature was working fine.

the file in question is gv_send.php

i will appreciate if you could give me some advise on this

thanks

I have read through the whole thread but cant find any info about how to change for example this SEO url

http://www.coborimpo...5w-c-30_43.html

TO something like

http://www.coborimpo...nkit_Xenon.html

So the link dont show the cat ID but instead the real cat name

Is this possible ?

No it is not possible. This contribution requires -c- to denote a category and 30_43 to denote the category path.

Without these the script is reliant on a string as an identifier which is unreliable at best.

Hi,,

I have added Ultimate SEO URL without any big issue.

The only one I got at this time is that selection of manufacturer is not working : what ever through the specific box or through the manufacturer select tool at the top of category page.

When selecting a manufacturer it returns to the index page.

I did not find any topic on that issue although I did not read all the pages.

Does anyone know how to fix the issue ?

dear fwr,

i have instaled some of your (Seo Urrls 5, the meta tag and security pro) contributions

i believe they have a build on feature for avoiding duplicated content

on the Google Webmaster tool for some URLs i have so called soft404 errors. for example a page like this:

http://my site/ana-parking-plane-pr-133.html?action=buy_now

google sees this:

HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily

Date: Thu, 21 Oct 2010 01:27:51 GMT

Server: Apache

X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.14

Location: http://my site/cookie_usage.php

Keep-Alive: timeout=2, max=200

Connection: Keep-Alive

Transfer-Encoding: chunked

Content-Type: text/html

i believe this is created by your code to avoide duplicated content

can you confirm if such a result is normal or there is some problem. i would expect 301 redirect but what concerns me is the 302 redirect and also the Location ...../cookie_usage.php

a clarification would be appreciated

thanks

valerif

Nope I want to talk about any issues that relate to the efficiency of USU5 without exception.

Your problem is nothing to do with USU5.

The code that redirects to cookie_usage.php is in application_top.php as follows: -

	if ($session_started == false) {
	tep_redirect(tep_href_link(FILENAME_COOKIE_USAGE));
}

Therefore if no session is started you are 301 redirected to that file.

thank you very much for the clarification,

the problem i see is that this happened since i added the USU5. before that i did not have so called soft redirects in goodgle webmaster tools report

i am linking this issue with the USU5 but can not be sure

see below another URL from the Google Fetch:

This is how Googlebot fetched the page.

URL: http://my domain/ana-parking-plane-pr-133.html?action=notify

Date: Thu Oct 21 20:45:18 PDT 2010

Googlebot Type: Web

HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily

Date: Fri, 22 Oct 2010 03:45:19 GMT

Server: Apache

X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.14

Location: http://my domain/cookie_usage.php

Keep-Alive: timeout=2, max=200

Connection: Keep-Alive

Transfer-Encoding: chunked

Content-Type: text/html

you say this is related to session code. does it mean goodle bot created a session?

and why google see this as a temporary redirect? or do you think this is normal?

should i not bother about it?

your advise would be apreciated

==============================================

another example:

This is how Googlebot fetched the page.

URL: http://my domain/business-man-in-the-city-pr-73.html?action=buy_now&currency=USD

Date: Thu Oct 21 20:54:30 PDT 2010

Googlebot Type: Web

HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily

Date: Fri, 22 Oct 2010 03:54:31 GMT

Server: Apache

X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.14

Location: http://my domain/cookie_usage.php

Keep-Alive: timeout=2, max=200

Connection: Keep-Alive

Transfer-Encoding: chunked

Content-Type: text/html

what also puzzels me is that if i click on the link actually i am not redirected to the cookie_usage.php. why google bot think is redirected there?

http://my domain/business-man-in-the-city-pr-73.html?action=buy_now&currency=USD

hi,

i have one more question

i changed some cathegories in my website and i wanted to do 301 redirect from the old link to the new link

i used 301 code to redirect them form the htaccess file but had some strange results that i believe are due to another redirect rules within USU5

what i tries was: redirect 301 page-p1.html to my site/page-p2.html

the result was that when i call from the browser the page-p1.html i would expect to see page-p2.html but instead i was redirected to the www.my site.com and not to the page-p2.html

would you have any idea on how i can do this without having to remove the code related to the USU5 301 redirect (for avoiding duplicated pages)

thanks

valerif

It is nothing to do with USU5 it is to do with your code. If you have general questions about osCommerce please use the general forum.

You don't need to remove any correctly working USU5 code, you need to correct the 301 redirect code which obviously isn't working. If USU5 receives a valid seo url it will not redirect it.

Hello,

Just a question as this also happens also with ultimate SEO URLs I found by chemo etc but not with SEO-G from what I remember.

The product_info.php is working fine but in my footer and header I have links such as: (all using the tep_href_function)

Index.php

contacts_up.php

privacy.php

etc etc....

How come these links arent converted to .html then creating a creating a redirect to .html version from .php thus disguising the fact its running on php and preventing duplicate content etc?

Regards

Chris

Not sure I understand where you see a problem.

The contribution is not attempting to hide PHP it provides a better uri than ?cPath=47 for human users and for bots.

There is absolutely no reason to change privacy.php to privacy.html and therefore USU5 doesn't change it.

Didn't understand the comment about duplicate content as there is none.
