What technologies required for Oscommerce?

Recommended Posts

I am really going to try and build a great site with Oscommerce and want to try and master all parts of it. What type of developer technologies would I need to learn/excel in to acheive this. At the moment i have a list of:

PHP

MySQL

HTML

CSS

I am looking to cover version 3 too so any new features can be covered too.

Knowing those things would make you more than ready to handle oscommerce.

Anything else you would recommend Jack. I have an account with lynda.com and am ready to learn.

Javascript, Ajax, Flash, XML perhaps?

learn php and mysql first, learn how to incorporate them with each other. Then move onto xml, javascript and ajax in that order, you will learn the html while learning the others and the css is easy to pick up once done, but you'll gain general knowledge of it when u go over the tutorials.

It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. There's no reason to know anything about Flash, for example, unless you are going to have that option on your site. And then it depends on if you are just wanting to display a flash image you already have or if you want to design and create your own. If you are wanting to learn it in order to work on other sites, then anything you can learn about any of the options you may need would be helpful.

Just learn what you need to learn as you go along. How many people really know anything when they first start out?
