Paypal Website Standard - don't understand what these mean?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Can someone please explain what these thing refer to & how I'm supposed to set them up? I've already installed the module but I don't know what to do now (I did search but can't find the answers I'm looking for)...

Your Private Key

Your Public Certificate (is this my SSL certificate? If so, what info from it do I put here???)

Paypals Public Certificate

Your Paypal Public Certificate ID

Working Directory

Also:

1. am I supposed to be enabling encrypted payments?

2. Do I now delete the default Paypal module and leave only this one?

I'm almost at the homeplate now, I just need a little help!

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Charlene

I hope someone answers you, I have seen this questioned asked (I have too) but have not seen an answer. Thank you to anyone who could help.

Yes, and after reading a couple of dozen posts with regards to PWPS, I was more confused than I was to begin with.

Here's the answers I've come up with for the other people who need the info:

Your Private Key - don't worry about it

Your Public Certificate - ditto

Paypals Public Certificate - ditto

Your Paypal Public Certificate ID - ditto

Working Directory - ditto

Also:

1. am I supposed to be enabling encrypted payments? you don't have to

2. Do I now delete the default Paypal module and leave only this one? yes

Basically, spruce up your custom payment page in Paypal, create a page that the customer is routed back to (make sure you put that url in paypal where indicated) and you should be all set for Paypal Website Standard.

This thread will tell you how to create a custom page for your store.

these dont really strike me as answers to the question. if theyre completely superfluous, why did the developers bother with them? surely someone must know what these settings are for?

First time I am using this forum so very sorry if i mess up.

I have done as below:-

Your Private Key - don't worry about it

Your Public Certificate - ditto

Paypals Public Certificate - ditto

Your Paypal Public Certificate ID - ditto

Working Directory - ditto

and all works find for me. The thing I am not happy about is when the customer gets taken to paypal, the customer only sees my shops name but dot the actual product he is buying. I will do more research.

No worries, I found it in PayPal and will give it a try... it really seems that PayPal integration is a well-kept secret on here... thanks for this thread it has been the most useful so far.

If YOu want to encrypt payment form then thiese will be needed.

In most of the site encrypt is set to false so Yuo too can avoid these.

A better option is to have SSL for Your site.

I do have a private SSL for my site.

So, how do I set the PayPal parameters in Admin Menu (like key etc as mentioned in first post). My certificate provider did not give me the cert in .pem format as required by PayPal so I'm absolutely lost now. I have .crt and .key Word files!

Your help would very much be appreciated.

well leave those blank.

Make sure encrypt is set to false in this setting.

All those details are if to be applied taken from Paypal profile.

Thanks, the private SSL was one of the many pieces confusing me. I've ignored it and put my settings as you suggested and done some test orders in the Sandbox which finally went through OK. :)

thanks so much!
