Hello,

I think I'm ready for feedback... (Eep!) Please have a look at my site and let me know what you think. I'm doing a test order this afternoon, so the site isn't open yet...

Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!

Hi,

Not bad as it goes!

The reds are a bit too dark, try reading the "Free Delivery" message in the header and the normal size images suffer from the jaggies but otherwise clean but as usual... unmistakingly OSC, you gotta admit they all look the same(ish).

The only problem happened when I tried to checkout, there seems to be a problem with your SSL certificate and I got taken to a browser generated warning page. Also, when I tried to click a link your hosting server gave up and errored out with a "too many connections" error.

Hi, thanks for looking. I had that security error when I tried too, but my SSL certificate is shared, so do you think that's why? They assured me it would be just as good... Damn "them" The "too many connections" is totally new to me though.

Re: looking like OSC - it really does, doesn't it?! ;o) I don't have the skills or bravery to tackle too many contributions, so I'm keeping it simple until I get a better grip on things. Which may be never... haha

Here's a quick cut&paste of the SSL error I get...

There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address.

Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.

We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website.

More information

If you arrived at this page by clicking a link, check the website address in the address bar to be sure that it is the address you were expecting.

When going to a website with an address such as https://example.com, try adding the 'www' to the address, https://www.example.com.

If you choose to ignore this error and continue, do not enter private information into the website.

For more information, see "Certificate Errors" in Internet Explorer Help.

... which is generated by the browser (IE7) and not the server, so... it would appear that shared SSL certificates do not work with OSC. Plus, I think a lot of payment gateways will require a dedicated SSL which also means a dedicated IP address.

I have both and they cost me about £120 a year.

I still have my stock os "welcome to the future home of the steel something boutique" page when you type in just the url, and to get to the catalog you have to have the link I posted. So I realize I'm asking way too many questions, but d'ya think that's why? I haven't been going around adding double slashes to things, so why oh why are they there?? I did notice some double slashes when I go through the https instead of http. Should I post both links and see if it makes a difference?

I think thats causing the problem ... but not 100% ... its an issue with your configure file

paste your /storemain/catalog/includes/configure.php file WITHOUT THE DATABASE INFO and we'll check it

I am scared! What do you mean "WITHOUT THE DATATBASE INFO"?! Do you want me to post the contents of the configure file?

1. Change the background you are not selling car accessories

2. you provide free shipping whey r u hiding it??? have the text stand out more.

3. add text to the alt text of your header image

Hi

your shipping module does not seem to be working I would not worry to much at the beginning about the ssl get the basics working first.

John

Should there be a shipping module if there is only free shipping? I thought I was "skipping it" (but not really because they have to acknowledge it) because there were no choices. Fer hells sakes... Now it gets technical...

I will make the text brighter and add some alt text, that I can do immediately...

Thanks!

These two lines definately need to be...

Notice that the second line has ".sslpowered.com" trimmed from it.

Good luck

You are the best, thanks for getting back so quick! I just bought a dedicated IP address (5 minutes ago), so probably the whole config file is different now... But I haven't gotten a dedicated SSL yet, wanted to see if the scary "they may be trying to fool you" message will go away just with the dedicated IP. I'll check it and see if the changes you indicated are in there and if not, I'll change them. Cheers,

Nicole

Hi Nicole, seems you're quick too, your quote was before I edited my post (within 3 minutes of original) so note that you have to remove the ".sslpowered.com" from the second quoted line.

I am having a heart attack here, so that's why I'm quick! Now I changed my file (but I only added in the www. to both lines) and I have this big pink banner at the top of the store saying that "I am able to write to the configure file..." and it won't go away...

Re: "sslpowered", all of the instructions that my webhost has include the "sslpowered" in the addresses with https. I better call them - it might be because I still have their shared SSL, and then maybe once I get a dedicated one I can change it?

To get rid of the red warning flash you have to navigate to the catalog/admin/includes/configure.php file in your ftp program (cuteftp etc) and change its CHMOD properties to 644 which allows you to read and write the file but only read for everyone else.

Let me know if you need help with this but usually you just highlight the file, rightclick and select from the context menu.

Good luck
