Hi every one,

I am a newbie with Oscommerce and building a website. I want to say thanks to all who made contribution so that I could learn and figure out how to fix and remove and build my store. I was amazed how much support there was and so much solutions to every problems I had. The answers were there so I did not have to harassed you guys, thanks again. Below is a link to my store, I have not finished adding stuff, but would like your opinion or feedback on what I need to change or fix

i think its pretty cute.. i like your header, but i MIGHT loose the baby. My first impression was that it was baby clothes.. pregnant ladies dont have babies yet! I dunno.. that might just be my convoluted way of thinking.. i would maybe make the header a LITTLE more adult by taking OUT the baby.. YOu want it to be trendy right??

product listing thumbnails enhancements might be a contribution that will make your product listing look a little better. It makes the product listing page look like the new products page. Its REALLY awesome.

your manufacturers box cuts off Old Navy, and i think you might too better with a pull down instead if you get more manufacturers.

You should also get a fancier category menu. You can try a BUNCH of them at the addons.oscommerce.com. there are CSS menus, dynamic flyouts and more. it just adds more professionalism to your site.

You can also probably benefit from infobox header images instead of just basic oscommerce look.

you have a non-secure itesm pop up when you go to a ssl page

A great place for newbies to start

I'd post this in the general contributions area where there is a support thread for the product listings contribution.

Hi,

Nice site. I like your layout and choice of color.

You have installed ultimate seo urls. If you used the one Robert's (FWR Media) you may want to look at installing independent seo validation as well.

It's quick and easy. I'm new at this as well but I think that

http://www.clothesimpression.com/belt-wais...6.html?cPath=33

shouldn't be the same as

http://www.clothesimpression.com/belt-dggg...6.html?cPath=33

The validation contribution will correct this.

When I click on new products I get

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ';', expecting ',' or ')' in /home/mvj0806/public_html/products_new.php on line 14

I tried looking at the thumbnails enhancements contribution but can't see the preview shots to see what it does. Out of curiosity do you still have it installed on your site?

Ah, yes, silly me, it was no other than ME that had this issue when I had the notorius SEF urls (still in development) set to ON.

Veronie, if you have them on, turn them off. This should fix the problem. You shouldn't have it on anyway with the ultimate seo urls installed.

Hi Alexander,

Thanks for your feedback and help, I will do just that. I took off the thumbnails enhancements contribution and will try it again later to see what happens. It was late when I install it and did not feel like sitting up to figure it out, it was a long day.

Hi Debra,

I took the thumbnails enhancements contribution off and will try again; I think I had the SEF urls set on ON.

Thanks!

The Paypal image link (lower right column) causes "non-secure items" popup in IE.

Make the link to the Paypal image HTTPS like this:

<img src="https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/icon/verification_seal.gif" border="0" alt="Official PayPal Seal">

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.

Hi Lindsay,

I have changed a few things around since I last correspond with you and would like you or anyone else opinion or feedback.

How can I get the text on the "All Products" page to be the same size 10px as the others? I tried in stylesheet but it did not work. Another things my Continue Shopping button is not showing up, it use to show up but because I use some modification it disappears. How can I get it to show once again. Thanks you!

Thanks!

i;m not sure what happened.. which contribution did you use??

Actually, in my opinion, you should make it so you arent brough to the cart contents every time you add a product to your cart.. that is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. The way i see it, i dont need to be reminded of EVERYTHING i added to my cart every time i do it.. You can change that setting in the oscommerce admin. You still should have the continue shopping, but it wont be that nessecary if you change that.

the ALL PRODUCTS is actually using the text as a link, so the A and the A HOVER are the styles it is using.. you dont want to change that though because it will change the look of all of your links.. just make a new class, or reference the class that the other product listing pages is using.. then you should be all set.

I love the change on the header.. very nice..

how come you have product attributes on products that only have one size and one color?? just curious. iw as looking at the CIMD032 green checkered tube dress, and it seems useless to have attributes on it if theres only one size and color.

Finally, you NEED to change the size of the thumbnails. If you go to admin section of your site and click on images, you can change the thumbnail image size.. keep either the hieght or the width and change th other to null (not zero, just nothing).. that will automatically make it fit without making it look smushed.. some of your images look skewed.

you also have the default WRITE A REVIEW image in the info box..i HATE that image.

Thank for your input, I promise when I build my next website it will look a lot better. I have to give myself credit to actually search and read the information that you guys contribute. I have tried several times to finish one and gave up, but now I have decided that the information are there, I just have to read it.

I did remove the write a review icon because I hate it too, accidentally I removed the wrong //. I added the the product attributes because I may have more of those styles to add. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and I will fix what you have suggestions.

Thanks!

Veronica

I'm not saying your site is bad AT ALL.. you asked for feedback, it would be stupid of me to post with "looks great, good job!"

that doesnt help you right?

I always try to search as much as i can too, but i have to admin, there are times where i just post, and then search while waiting for an answer and usually find the answer before anyone answers.. then i have to come back on and say NEVER MIND FOUND IT (but i ALWAYS post the solution, just in case someoen finds MY thread)

anyways, i think you are doing well.. Just remember that its just my opinions and thoughts. It is all based on the way in interperet what online shoppers would want.

I have had a few people complete argue against my ideas..
