Live Chat Support

Recommended Posts

I went to the contributions looking for a Live Support Chat and I found this one http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/872, its a bit old, I was wondering if it still works, it has been 5 years since the last update or if theres a newer version, I cant seem to find any other.

I made a new MSN account for my business and I was thinking of posting it on the website so people can add me but that looks kinda sloppy!

Any ideas?

Thanks in advanced!

HOW TO INSTALL LIVE HELP ON OSC

http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...ns,2187/page,31

Hi

to integrate live help into OSC go to the crafty syntax website and download the latest version of crafty syntax at this address

......craftysyntax.com/installation.php

An add-on to recommend can be found here LC2 SERVER

........starhostdesign.com/index.php?module=downloads

this add-on to Crafty Syntax provides a desktop interface ( pop ups and sound when a customer enters your shop )

The 3rd add-on to recommend is Geo IP this shows the IP address of the customer and where they are coming from ( for example I seen yesterday 4 visitors came from forums OSC to have a look ) Big Brother type of thing B)

can be found here

.......craftysyntax.com/help/viewtopic.php?t=2328

This is free open source software

Have fun John

Hi

You should now go to the support forums for live help at the address below if you search the forums for additional modules you will find that a lot of translations have already been done.

http://www.craftysyntax.com/help/

You can change the various text messages in your live help admin control panel on the left hand side go to departments then

create/edit/delete then click on settings here you can change most off the text messages.

The LEAVE A MESSAGE is an image found here

live help/onoff_images/offline1.gif The message you would need to change in photo shop although as I said if you go to the live help forums you will find a lot of image gifs are available in different languages.

PS are you James Bond??? got a visit yesterday from him :D

Try /includes/languages/english/xxxx.php or in one of the diecrories in there.

Look in the contribution file structure and that will give you the file name.

Hi christineS

Well it is a relatively simple install. The zip datei you downloaded you now have to unpack into a normal folder ( yellow ) this folder you should now rename to livehelp, livechat or Live_help or whatever you want ( No spaces between the words ).

Now you upload this folder best by FTP the same level on your domain as OSC ( catalog/ Store/ Shop ) or whatever you have called yor store. Very important this does not go inside the OSC folder but should be beside it.

after the folder is on your server you now have to set up a database in phpMyAdmin you will find this in your cpanel or whatever you use.

If you are not to sure about cpanel do a back up of your stores database first of all and a backup of your store always better to do a backup first before changing any thing.

When you create a new database you will have...... 1: database name. 2: database user. 3: database password.

write these down as you will need them to configure livehelp.

Now you go to your internet browser and type this address http://www.yourdomainname.com/livehelp/setup.php

and follow the instructions here you will now need the name of the database, user, password etc that you have created.

Now you have to integrate this in OSC ( your store ) this just a question of adding a link. the instructions can be found here

http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...ns,2187/page,31

The quick start up extra contribution LC2 can be found here

.... starhostdesign.com/index.php?module=downloads

thats it the livehelp should now appear in your info box on the index page of your site. I would recommend downloading the LC2 extra contribution adds a quick start up to your desktop makes it quicker to use when you are online

There is also a nice ip extra if you need with this you can see where the customer is coming from the best thing is to go to the crafty syntax support forums and check out the extras ( for example you can change the images etc ).

If you have problems mail me.

John
