PayPal - Solution for missing orders

Jupiters

Recommended Posts

Hello,

i read several threats and looked into some contributions. i think the problem could be solved with a good comunication. so my thought: cant we integrate the paypal site via an iframe. or the better in a lightbox or popup. after having paid the customer closes the popup or the lightbox and he immidiatly sees the shop page an can finish the order. now need for pressing the back button of the browser.

your thoughts?

greetings

This is a BIG FUNDAMENTAL problem... i've just realized this is happening with one of the shops i maintain.

I fit cant be fixed ill either have to simply turn PP off and not use it, or find a contribution to do it instead of the built in PP module.

Someone must be able to sot this out?

Use of any Paypal IPN module will take care of this.

either use paypal standard that comes with RC2 or

Paypal IPN(search contrib section for this).

This does not fix the problem

Im using it right now

If a customer does not return to the store

The Qty does not get subtracted and the email notifications are not sent

(I only get notified from paypal)

Is there a solution to this?

well then Your IPN is not either getting posted or there is some bug.

Chek that IPN is getting posted to IPN file and You get averified plus payment complete status.

I too am suffering from this exact issue. I am using the latest Paypal Standard included in the latest RC2. When you mention the IPN file - where do I find this exactly? Do we need to configure auto-return on paypal's side? Or does this have anything to do with it? I also see one can Manually set the IPN URL on the paypal site. If necessary, what would this URL be?

If these are mere configuration issues, they sorely need to be clarified in Documentation.

That URL will gget over written by the notify url in Your code.So is not effective.

So where exactly IS the notify URL in my code? Or where is it SUPPOSED to be? The issue is the URL is not properly being passed to Paypal to begin with. Therefore the transaction never completes, as far as OSCommerce is concerned. Is there a config file somewhere I am not aware of? It's certainly not in the config for the PayPal payment module.

FWIW, I downloaded a different Paypal IPN module than the one distributed with RC2. There were more configuration options and lo and behold, the orders get updated properly even if the user does not click continue on the paypal site. So that part is solved.

Here is the module I am now using:

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/2679

BUT - another issue continues to loom - we are losing product attributes AFTER payment is received from paypal. I have verified the attributes are in the cart/order BEFORE sending to paypal.

anyone have any ideas of where to track this issue?

if (STOCK_LIMITED == 'true')

This is one code in that contribution that will allow or will not allow quantity update.

So chek that STOCK_LIMITED is set to true.

Thanks for the response. No, we are not using the stock limitations. The issue is not the stock numbers. The problem is with product attributes. For example, the product may come in many sizes and colors. Using Product Attributes, we give the ability to the customer to choose a color or size. These choices are added to the order, per item.

These choices are displayed properly in the shopping cart and on the checkout order summary before it goes to paypal. BUT once the transaction returns from Paypal, we lose all of the attribute choices. The result is we have no idea what size or color product to send to the customer, as it does not show up on the order.

I'm starting to wonder if Paypal is even worth the trouble...

The issue on Your site is not a general issue so unless one looks at the code in and out cant comment further.

hi, I found out a way for you to have customers automatically be sent back to your site after paying. <br> step 1: Log nto your paypal account.

<br> Step2: On the far right of the links will be a profile link click it.<br> Step3: Go to Websites Payment Preferences and turn auto return on and direct your customers to a thankyou.html file which contains the sample text or a thank you note of your own.

if (tep_not_null(MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_IPN_DEBUG_EMAIL)) {

this suggests that if YOu set debug paypal IPN email thru admin payment module configuration to Your email id.You will get emails as to what went wrong.

Just collect those emails and paste.

This means nothing is getting posted by Paypal or while the code gets executed and before the debug email is sent its getting destroyed.

if (tep_not_null(MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_IPN_DEBUG_EMAIL)) {

}

tep_mail('', MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_IPN_DEBUG_EMAIL, 'PayPal IPN Invalid Process', $email_body, STORE_OWNER, STORE_OWNER_EMAIL_ADDRESS);

}

paste this as the first lines in IPN and chek.

There is a PDT setting in Paypal profile is it set to true.

Also did this email came because You punched the url or was this generated due to an IPN recd.

It only happens when the customer doesnt return to the store from the paypal link

Thats the whole problem

If they click the return to merchant button everything is fine.

But if they dont it doesnt work

Is there a way to record the sale in osc if they dont return to the store after paypal payment????

This means nothing is getting posted by Paypal or while the code gets executed and before the debug email is sent its getting destroyed.

if (tep_not_null(MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_IPN_DEBUG_EMAIL)) {

$email_body = '$_POST:' . "\n\n";

foreach ($_POST as $key => $value) {

$email_body .= $key . '=' . $value . "\n";

}

$email_body .= "\n" . '$_GET:' . "\n\n";

foreach ($_GET as $key => $value) {

$email_body .= $key . '=' . $value . "\n";

}

tep_mail('', MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_IPN_DEBUG_EMAIL, 'PayPal IPN Invalid Process', $email_body, STORE_OWNER, STORE_OWNER_EMAIL_ADDRESS);

}

paste this as the first lines in IPN and chek.

There is a PDT setting in Paypal profile is it set to true.

Also did this email came because You punched the url or was this generated due to an IPN recd.

Satish

PDT is false since auto return is off
