Modern Template for RC2a

Modern Template for RC2a v1.0

This is a simple and modern looking drop over template for a default install of osCommerce RC2a.

Included skin: Grey styled modern skin with fixed with and search in header. (Screenshot included)

Might also work with older versions, but has only been tested on Rc2a.

This template is not meant to be an end in itself, but a nice base to work out from to create your own design.

Site width and colors can be adjusted in the file stylesheet.css

Buttons and text for English, German and Spanish included.

The template/skin can be downloaded here..

Does it have any add ons installed?

This one is fairly plain functions wise...

But it does include these extra functions:

- Css/javascript flyout menu

- 3 column product listing view

- Checkout/view content link in cart box

- Header search that also searches in products description

Nick,

Do you mind if I convert your template to an STS template and then add it to the STS Addon download page?

Need Help for Modern Template for RC2a

Ad first it looks really good.

When i tested this Template i saw that in the table "category" the category and the quantity are in different lines but i want the quantity in the same line.

Also different buttons like "update card" "add to cart" the german expresssions are too long and they are cutted or they are not german like "buy now" is "buy now" (should be: Jetzt Kaufen" and they are cutted. How can i change this (think the best way is to make the buttons longer)

Plese can you give me a little help.

I have tested this with a osCommerce Online Merchant v2.2 RC2a standard installation

Thanks

The german buttons are locate din this folder:

includes/languages/german/images/buttons/

You can edit them and re-upload them or exchange them with new images which you have made....

Could I see an image of the template before I use it?

Also how would I change the background colour of boxes?

Download the template and unzip the package, screenshot is included in package.

I have applied your modern template but a few problems exist.

1) the boxes underneath Categories and Shoppng cart have no gray skin.

2) The image to the right of "Whats New" is missing. Can you tell me why?

My shop is here.

I wish I could edit my previous statement but there was no edit button so here goes:

3) I cannot change the width of the categories box. Where do I do that?

In other templates I would change the width in the application_top.php file but this does not effect the categories box.

Please help.

1) the boxes underneath Categories and Shoppng cart have no gray skin.

That is because you have used BDP or infobox customizer on your shop.

The Modern Template is for a default oscommerce 2.2RC2a and are not adapted for BDP.

If you wish to use it with BDP you will have to add in all the different box style classes to the stylesheet.css

2) The image to the right of "Whats New" is missing. Can you tell me why?

Went to your site and the image does show now.

3) I cannot change the width of the categories box. Where do I do that?

in stylesheet.css

Thank you for you reply.

It true that I used BDP before applying your template.

How do I undo the BDP changes?

2 solutions...

1. add all the css box classes from BDP to the stylesheet included with the modern template

or

download a fresh copy of osc 2.2 rc2a

exchange all the files in the includes/boxes/ folder with the files from RC2a. (all the files except the box files included in the modern template pack)

exchange this file includes/classes/boxes.php with the one from 2.2RCa

worked perfectly.

Another issue. The front page text margins need to be narrowed. I'd like to change width of that text but no matter what I change in the css the width spills over into the other columns.

Its not a big problem but I'm using a background image and I want the front page to fit the middle column image, not spill over its margin.

Whenever I change something in the css that I think will fix this I screw up the whole thing and have to start over again.

What line in the stylesheet control the width of front page text?

thankyou.

This you set in the index,php file itself and not in stylesheet.css

I actually fixed that problem by adding a padding parameter to TD.pageHeading, DIV.pageHeading and TD.main, P.main. Now I can make the margins stay within the limits of my transparent image.

TD.pageHeading, DIV.pageHeading {
 font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif;
 font-size: 20px;
 font-weight: bold;
 color: #000000;
 padding:10 15 15 15;

I still have a broken image on my site.

Can anyone tell me if the image to the right of "Whats New" is broken. I have two workstations and the image is broken on both machines and in both Firefox & IE browsers.

When I right click the broken image its name is "table_background_default.gif&w=50&h=50" and I can see it in my images folder via ftp.

Why isn't it properly displayed?

My site is HERE.

Well that didn't work. It fixed the front page but all other pages in the main page segment are too broad. Which part of the header.php code handles the width of all pages that appear in the central content segment?

I'm playing around with the <body> segment on the header file but is seems to manipulate the position of the right and left columns when I only what to change the width of the central box.
