lindsayanng
i have the same dynamenu.. its REALLY easy to install.. just try and if you have issues, post!! as for the giggling, that was teh FIRST thing i said when i went there.. i couldnt help myself with some of those products.. but to each is own ;) HAHAHAHA.. booble.. I never saw that one before..t hat is AWESOME.. On a design note, i think your BLOG link on the right column should either be moved below all of the boxes, or you should make the size match better.. if you can make the size the same, then you should probably put it in its own box, it looks outta place. you dont have the thumbnails view activated?? It views as a list.. I think the thumbnail with short description would be awesome i think you subcategories all should be the same.. for instance, you costumes are sqaure with neat little images, but your mens clothing is all little tabs.. i like the square ones, if you can make ALL of those like that, i think it would look nice. your photogallery is neat, would you be willing to let customers upload their own images? or is that against some rules? I'm assuming you wold need a disclaimer saying the post has the permission from everyone in the images for it to be posted on the net, i dunno though.. Do you REALLY wanna see what some peopel do with those products?? Maybe! Anyways, making the pictures bigger would be nice.. I would like to see a full size, even though the hover effect is neat. all in all.. a GREAT improvement on your site! Degage
Okay, I'm a little slow on the uptake here. I think your site is cool and even cooler is that you are a grandma and not ashamed to be running an adult store. My husband & I are also trying to run an adult store, and when we did trade shows, the neatest women were more mature and comfortable with themselves and didn't feel the need to giggle or think these things are disgusting. Heck, would those uptights prefer it if we went back to the Stone Ages where people hid their sexuality? Anyway, enough rambling for the night, I should go figure out the rest of my problems. Guest
Sorry, I'm immature... I just went to the "Holidays" section, and to my horror/delight I saw a St. Patricks Day category. But alas/yay, it is empty! Is it all the same stuff only green?!?!?!

modulate
Reading some of this thread, I had to keep looking up at the header to see if I was still in the osc forum or in fact been redirected to facebook! What has happened here? Anyway, first thing I noticed on the store - Doorway page! I would lose that, your actual index page is more inviting and couldn't see how to directly get to that from the first splash page (maybe my eyes) Also not sure it's great SEO to use a doorway page. lindsayanng
she is required by law to have a splash page becuase you are required to openly say and agree that you are of 18 years of age or older. That is somethingthat you can not get rid of. as for the silly comments.. just dont read them if you dont want.. it was just a way to let off some steam A great place for newbies to start Road Map to oscommerce File Structure DO NOT PM ME FOR HELP. modulate
Of course you can rid it, it's not law (at least here). There is no explicit images within the index to warrant a splash even if it is being done for safety? Type 'Adult Shop' in google, how many big guns have a doorway. Keep it, just trying to help and offer opinion.

The splash screen protects me legally and also required as a good net citizen via FSC and other groups. I wish I could lose it though, it would be much better SEO wise, but I figure that since almost all of the stores of my type do the same thing, I should be fine. I'll take a look at it to see whether I can make the enter more visible.
Guest
Well, for those of you who don't know, I'm manic-depressive and they've been trying to get me stable with the right meds, which is why I haven't been around much....but anyway, in a bout of mania, I've made some changes to my site. I think it follows the theme, but who the hell knows. I'm on 4 different psychotropics. What looks good to me may look like a scene from Dexter to you normies   Any feedback welcomed as long it's not judgemental about sexuality, my age, my looks, etc. Also: I've noticed that although my Featured products show, the title isn't. I've looked at the page source and it's there, just not showing on either Firefox or IE. I'm highly confused. Any insights about that would also be great. lindsayanng
WELCOME BACK!! I like the policies and features links at the bottom..nice making them lists instead of in a row. What happened tothe grid view?? You have the products as a list now?? I miss the grid! if yo dont want to. then i would take the MODEL out of the product listing and move to images to the far left and the buy now directly after... Guest
The thumbnails show up full size; or, distorted. I've messed with the settings per Spooks, but it's just not working.

lindsayanng
thats REALLY odd.. Maybe it had to do with which extra images contribytion you were using?? Guest
Elloo Came to see if your thread had been porn spammed but :o NO, I is shocked LOL! Makes no sense  I have had a week away, opened my store, got a raging cough and cold, had a birthday, its been a hellava week! Now I know all the bits that do not work correctly on site or need tweaking I have much to do. Harking back to the DM menu I did get it to work just fine, it was easy so I am not sure how I managed to mess that up first time around. It did not look or feel right with my style and left column so I gave my self a task of sticking new 'buttons' I created in the header as a menu and with a little help from Gary B I got it working LOL! Could not have opened on time without everyones help, most grateful to all xx
Guest
Just a thought on the whole 'Splash page' thing. I think your right, it's good to keep it , that way, you know the customers that will go past it are more likely to be actual 'customers' The downside of course is the search engines - I just wonder if it is possible to test for search engines before displaying the entry page (in the same way we exclude search engines from starting a session) BrianD oh, and my wife gives your cowboy the big thumbs up (now where can I buy a hat?) Guest
I used something like this for something similar (or something like that!) $user_agent = strtolower($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']); $spider_flag = false; if (empty($user_agent) === false) { $spiders = file('includes/spiders.txt'); // make sure there is a text file avaliable with the search engine names. foreach ($spiders as $spider) { if (empty($spider) === false) { if (strpos($user_agent, trim($spider)) !== false) { $spider_flag = true; break; } } } } if ($spider_flag === false) { // put the code for the splash page in here // all of it - headers and everything! } else { // redirect to main page // or even better, show a site map here, rather than the splash page // essentially a static no frills html page with links to the store and main categories } This way, the search engines don't see your "are you over 18 page", but a sitemap instead. This means of course that search engines are seeing a different page to the public - not something Google likes - but in this case, it would be more helpfull for indexing purposes I suppose....
