cefyn
Im not clever enough for sts i guess, couldnt get it to work with some important functions, but its got so much potential for making a site look good. What i wondered was, is it possible to do a few html pages which could be the glamorous front of a site, without os layout restrictions, through which the os site is entered in order to make purchases. The first problem I see is that there would be too many redirects for the googlebot, and im sure thered be others.Has anybody got this kind of thing to work?I think well get left behind as site designers without being able to get things like magic zoom and 360 degree fashion shots working for us,which as i understand it,could not be used on an os site because you cant embed the code into the php and keep all the other major functions working.STS really could be the answer, but for me im afraid its not.Im having to rethink it.All advice gratefully received. spooks
I`ve written a system that I call, for want of a better phrase, Client Created Pages It uses a css menu that is client controlled (client can create & set any menu item) the client can choose a menu item to point to catalog root, any category or pages they create themselves using a online wysiwyg editor. Created pages can be within catalog or in root (such as home, about, contact etc). I have started a thread on this at http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?sho...301396&st=0 but so far that has been very little interest. There are not really any such restrictions, anything you can "embed" in html you can also 'embed" in oscommerce. Kevin, I don't recall seeing you post any support questions in the STS support thread so how do you know this can't be done using STS??? Sounds to me STS is exactly what you are looking for. Can't help you if you don't post your STS questions in the proper support thread.
