Categories Descriptions

Has anyone determined a way to add an information text area below each category listing area.

 

I would like to display a message related to the category that is selected. I tried using the Featured Products to see if this might be an option since it determines if a categorie has a featured product but no luck.

 

I know there is no text information stored in the categories and there may be some solution there.
