BarrySmith
Hi, I have been using header tag seo for a while now on my new shop but have come across a problem that I need some help with. Basically I have headertag seo and seo=g installed and find both contributions to work great. However I have just added the following url to header tag seo: http://comfyearplugs.com/product_info.php?products_id=48 and also it appears on the list of urls when you change the page title it does not update the page. In fact if you try and view the changes, the page title appears as the category title. Any help would be much appreciated. Regards. Peter. pete2007
Hi, I installed the Header Tag SEO, I was just noticed that none of my product pages are listed within the search engines, please could you tell me what's the best way to configure the header-tag module so that I get the best result of it? Also is the product_info.php the actual file for all products? If so would you recommend I removed this so that google and other search engines can collect info normally? Any help or advice would be most appreciated!
Jack_mcs
You can't control when the seasrch engines will list your pages. INstalling contributions like the google sitemap and Sitemap SEO will speed that process up but it would still be at their pleasure. Yes, product_info.php is for the products. Removing it will break your shop and should not be considered. Jack_mcs
No, I'm sorry but that goes beyond free support. In general though, running Fill Tags for most sites is all that is needed for the categories and products. There are also files included with the contribution that explain the basics of setting it up. And you can also search the web for how to setup keywords for a site. Jack_mcs
Header Tags doesn't change the code dealing with product listing but may change part of the code after that. If the contribution you are installing overlaps, then you have to merge them. It won't be the same lines of code though, other than the if statement. So you should be able to change everything up to that statement and have it work fine. Guest
Sorry for my bad eng. In step 3: FIND (Around line 78) <td class="pageHeading"><?php echo HEADING_TITLE; ?></td> <td class="pageHeading" align="right"><?php echo tep_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . $category['categories_image'], $category['categories_name'], HEADING_IMAGE_WIDTH, HEADING_IMAGE_HEIGHT); ?></td> </tr> I only find this: <tr> <td class="pageHeading"><?php echo HEADING_TITLE; ?></td> </tr> </table></td>
Jack_mcs
The extra line <td class="pageHeading" align="right"><?php echo tep_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . $category['categories_image'], $category['categories_name'], HEADING_IMAGE_WIDTH, HEADING_IMAGE_HEIGHT); ?></td> is the icon image displayed on a standard shop. Yours has been removed so just replace the code and then also delete the line with the new code that has the image. treasurepleasure
Hi, I am relatively new at this so forgive me. I looked at the directions and in the forums and I am confused. The Header Tags isn't working so I ran the test. This is what it says: Option Error:The Search Engine Friendly option is set. This should be disabled since it can cause various problems.Missing Code in FileThe Header Tags head code for the index.php file cannot be found. The Header Tags head code for the product_info.php file cannot be found. The Header Tags head code for the product_reviews.php file cannot be found. The Header Tags head code for the product_reviews_info.php file cannot be found. The Header Tags head code for the product_reviews_write.php file cannot be found. The Header Tags head code for the specials.php file cannot be found. What head code goes in these files? What folder are these files in? Help please! Thanks in advance! Quote Mike Alwood
Jack_mcs
The search engine option is in admin->Configuration->My Store and should be set to false. The other erros means you didn't install the contribution correctly. You will need to go over through Install_Catalog.txt file again. treasurepleasure
Thanks Jack! I was a numbskull. One thing though, I have a different code on the index.php around line 70. Jack_mcs
It looks like it is the correct location but, if it is, your code has been stripped of the original oscommerce code, a common practice with templates. It can be added back in but can be very difficult, depending upon what they did. Jack_mcs
That code s from some other contribution change that handles cantegory descriptions. If you want to use that option from Header Tags instead, you'll need to remove that code. It may also be in admin/categories.php. treasurepleasure
Thanks Jack. Do you know anyone that I could pay to have it done for me? I tried, there is a section that is definately different. I know html and a tiny bit of PHP but cannot do this and really want to have the Meta tags in place. Jack_mcs
The file from the contribution is a standard file and should work in all shops so you must have edited it after installing it to have a problem with it. Try using the original without making any changes to it. Guest
Jack, I hope you can offer suggestions to help. I have double and triple checked all associated files to correct any installation errors and cannot get HTS to work when STS is activated. The code for Files for normal template is changed to sts_user_code.php;headertags.php in both default and index templates and I strictly followed the instruction, skipping step 1 and making the changes of 1a. When STS is activated, the page titles all read Untitled 1, but without STS, HTS works perfectly. Can you think of any common reasons that it would not be working? I'm sure its something obvious that I am just not seeing. Jack, I see too that you may have a resource that I could pay to fine tune my site. If you wouldn't mind IMing me and letting me know too, I would appreciate it. I am about to hire an SEO firm but want everything to be fine tuned before they get started. I appreciate your input. Thanks Larry
