Conditionally include shipping module?

I have a store in which I need to be able to send some products by post and others which can only be hand delivered or collected from our premises.

 

I cannot find any contribution that tackles this and have read all the threads I could find.

 

Please help.

 

I imagine the most practical solution is to add a field to each product to say whether it can be sent by post or not, and then check this field when it comes to checkout delivery options.

 

I do not use the manufacturers field, so I think it would be simplest for me to delete all other manufacturers and call a new manufacturer “Post” for example, but I do not have any idea how to conditionally include the shipping module into the shipping options array on the checkout shipping page.

 

I imagine someone out there could do this standing on their head with one arm tied behind their back, it’s just not me! If anyone could tell me how to do it I think I would be eternally grateful.

I believe the Multi Vendor Shipping (MVS) mod will do what you need. Have a hunt in the contributions section.

A huge thank you for replying to my orignal post. I have installed the MVS module as it appeared to be exactly what i needed. Unfortunately I need to now locate a local delivery module which will work with MVS. I have tried to read the modules.txt file that I downloaded with the MVS 1.1, but it is way beyond me. I was very brave just installing the main bits. Do you know how I can find out if anyone has modified the local delivery module for use with MVS? I seem to be 90% there, but now I'm missing the most important bit! Your help has been very greatly appreciated.
