Guest
I've been looking through the feedback on people's stores and most critics do not seem to like the "stock" look. The problem is I cannot find any links to stores that are not this way... I would love to be able to see some examples of modified layouts and know how it was accomplished. ♥bruyndoncx
looking at your missaccessories site to me it looks like an STS implementation but yes, you can accomplish quite a bit with a few changes. mine does not have STS but changes in header/footer, stylesheet, column left and right ... (www.keukenlust.be) KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON I do not use the responsive bootstrap version since i coded my responsive version earlier, but i have bought every 28d of code package to support burts effort and keep this forum alive (albeit more like on life support). Guest
Thanks for the examples. I noticed they are all narrower than my screen, is that the way it should be? I thought a website would look better if it was wider.

♥toyicebear
Thanks for the examples. I noticed they are all narrower than my screen, is that the way it should be? I thought a website would look better if it was wider. There is no fast and easy rule on if the site should be full width or a fixed width but most designers prefer fixed with sites due to the fact that its easier to make a nice design. Also there is nothing wrong with the default osCommerce layout, but if you choose to use it then modify it and "make it your own" by changing colors and graphics and preferably also by sprucing it up a bit. But if you choose to use the default osCommerce layout then atleast do the following. - remove all the default cartoonish icons - change the category/menu box - change the graphic button set - change the box heading style/looks - remove the banner in the footer - change the sites colors This will not give you a "killer cutting edge" site, but it can produce a fairly good looking site.
