I am trying to install the affiliate program. I'm stumped over the instructions of

"MySQL ALTERATIONS

Insert the new tables found in the affiliate.sql file into your osCommerce catalog database."

How do I do this?

Make sure you have a recent back up of the database.

1. Open the affiliate.sql file in a text editor.

2. Copy the sql code.

3. Open phpmyadmin, select the store database, and then select the SQL tab.

4. Paste the code into the dialog box "Run SQL query/queries on database" and push Go

This will run your modules sql changes to the database.

Ah - thank you!

When I run a backup from admin, does that include the datebase on phpadmin?

I'm a bit nervous about installing something like this where I have to do things I've never done before, and don't want to mess up my store db beyond repair...

I run a backup from admin, and download all of my current catalog files to a folder on my external storage each time I make a change that I like - is there anything else i need to back up, to ensure ifI do screw something up and have to re-install everything, I have everything?

It is quite important to understand what it is you are backing up.

Get the backup file and open it up and have a look.

Remember if you back up onto your shop and your site goes down and you don't pay for a backup service from your ISP you could be in trouble unless you copy your backups onto your pc.

But it does sound like you are backing up your code but do need to get a copy of your data locally.
