homewetbar
Keith definately a great mod ok if we add it to the next release? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Of coarse, you shared contribution with me so I share with you, a great circle! If you're about to release a new version one other thing you might consider is all the banner and product pages count impressions when you are actually viewing them before posting them on your site. So if you had 12 banners they would automatically get 12 impressions everytime they view the banner page which is highly inacurate. So you might consider fixing those like I did the build a link as well, really simple fixes that just need to be done... insp3kt0r
Hi there! I've been scratching my head with some problems regarding to popup windows. I managed to install this contribution otherwise well - both admin and affiliate sides seems to work just fine. However... only popup-window which is working as it should... is the one when new affiliate candidate is filling the application form and click the "terms and conditions" link on the bottom of the page. All the other popups (incl. all help files, product and category pick-up popups) doesn't work. I have installed my osC to SSL-secured server, using 2.2MS2 and STS. This is how the popups behave. 1. For example Build a Link -page seems to work fine. I click "Click here" -link. 2. I get a popup window with otherwise empty content, but there are only STS template... no list of products. This DOESN'T happen in application form -page, the popup opens without STS around as it should. 3. When I try "Text Links" page, the same problem occurs... no list of products. Same with categories. Any help will be highly appreciated! Thanks and cheers! - Marko Quote -- Live long and prosper! :) Contributions: Full Finnish language pack

insp3kt0r
Hope this forum is not dead. I can provide a small fee to someone who can solve my problem. For example product pop-ups are functioning in admin. but not in catalog. They are behaving like I described in my earlier post. radders
snowman, radders, or anyone else who knows about this contrib. I've got everyone working well except Paypal I found some solutions for the old paypal 2.6 but I'm using the newer PayPal_IPN 1.1. I tried sticking include(affiliate_checkout_process.php); in various spots but I can't seem to make it register. I've viewed the database and it just is not creating a sale record in the affiliates_sales table. Any ideas on how to fix this or what code I need to add to register the PayPal affiliate sales? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Unfortunately I'm in the same boat but with Paypal Shopping Cart IPN. Always Paypal seems to do thing differently from the other modules. I thought I might try adding the link to the paypal file just after it mails a confirmation to the client. btw waht was the solution for 2.6? radders
I've just noticed that the Paypal Shopping Cart IPN contribution comes with notes on how to integrqate it with oscaffiliate. I'm going to give those a try and see if they work with my version.
scorpionusa
Hi all, Recently, I've just encounter this problem in the affiliate system (see error) It was working fine since the affiliate system was installed, nothing has been changed since then. The file that gave this error is catalog\affiliate_sales.php which hasn't been changed since installation. I've been checking the file and related files but still have no idea why it's breaking now. Any idea? 1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax. Guest
i seem to be having a problem? everything works, without errors. but when i make an affiliate sale and successfully deliver the item, there is no sale being counted for the affiliate. i changed the word "Delivered" to "SHIPPED", could that be causing a problem? or did i simply miss something in the admin configuration, like turning an account on? Guest
oops, found my problem :) i missed a tiny edit in the checkout_process page my banners do not work though, the url given to the affiliate shows up like this: <a href="http://www.myurl.com/index.php?ref=1&affiliate_banner_id=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.myurl.com/affiliate_show_banner.php?ref=1&affiliate_banner_id=2" border="0" alt="alt text"></a> firstly, i do not want people hotlinking my banner (some of my current affiliates have a major amount of traffic and i use graphic-intensive banners.), how can i make the image url point to an off-site avatar, from photobucket or something? Guest
After a few days attempting to solve my problem and hours of searching on here, I've decided to save my sanity and put my problem out there and see if anyone can understand it. On my testing site, I've tried to set up osc affiliate and when I try to sign up a fake affiliate to test it all out I get to affiliate_signup.php and after entering all details and ticking the "Terms and Conditions" checkbox, I click continue and the page simply reloads with all details in place and the ENTRY_AFFILIATE_AGB_ERROR shows below the "Terms and Conditions" checkbox, as it should if the checkbox had not been ticked. I have reuploaded fresh copies of all files that I can determine are related , affiliate_signup.php and affiliate_signup_details.php and tried editing a few sections of code that I thought might be the problem but couldn't see that anything could be wrong with the code since no-one else seems to have had this problem. At one stage today I thought that it might have had something to do with having the Register Golbals patch installed but I could not see anything in the OSC affiliate code that seemed like it would be affected by that and considering the amount of people who have this mod installed surely that would have been encountered before. Please help.

ashleylr
Has anyone had a problem with duplicate content in the serps on google and yahoo with this contribution? I have recently been penalized for some duplicate content (relating to another issue) but I believe I could be getting small penalties for the fact that google is indexing some of the affiliate URLs and when they match exactly to my regular URLs, I get duplicate content. I found the following post that Chemo made on another forum regarding how to fix this but I'm not a coding expert so I'm hoping someone understands what he is recommending and can point me in the right direction for how to fix it. Here is what he said: So an affiliate system will inadvertantly raise your rank far more, if done effectively than keywords. So let EVERYONE be an affiliate, give them their hyperlink code for embedding into their websites. Get a thousand of these incoming links and BAM your on your way to a high page rank on google. Remember, the affiliate_id is passed as a parameter and will be treated like a separate page for PR purposes. As an example: domain.com/products_info.php?products_id=123 is a different page and will have different PR than: domain.com/products_info.php?products_id=456 Using the above real world example let's extend it a bit to illuminate a serious deficiency with stock osC. domain.com/products_info.php?products_id=123 will take you to the product page but so will: domain.com/products_info.php?products_id=123&cPath=1 Both are the same page but different parameters and thus will have different PR. Aside from the PR dilution it will also make for duplicate content. To correct this edit your includes/modules/product_listing.php to remove the cPath if products_id is passed or present. To extend that concept let's examine these sets of URL: domain.com/products_info.php?products_id=123 is a product page but will have different PR than: domain.com/products_info.php?products_id=123&affiliate_id=1 Not only that but may be tagged as duplicate content! Anyone know how this can be fixed? Thanks!!!
henri
Solutions: - don't use Get-vars only Post as methods for submitting the ref-id (means that your affiliate have to use forms to link to you page) I think google than does not follow the links. - you can send all get links to a extra page which then redirects via moved permanently to your unique product page (don't know how google reacts to this)
radders
Maybe there is a way of putting <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX,FOLLOW"> into the header of pages containing affiliate ids in their urls? ashleylr
Maybe there is a way of putting <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX,FOLLOW"> into the header of pages containing affiliate ids in their urls? thats an idea but how would I be able to isolate just the affiliate pages? wouldn't I have to put that code on my product_info.php page and thus keeping robots out of non-affiliate versions as well? Is there a way to do an if statement in the meta tags heading part where if there is a referral then perform the no follow command and otherwise allow robots on the page? I'm not a coder so I'm not sure how that would work... Edited September 29, 2005 by ashleylr
