I Don't have it installed YET so I want to see what it can do before I install it! Understand now? nana
it is a great contribution . does basically everything you need to have in affiliate program but only one tier.it also has great support by both of the contributers. it allows a visitor to become an affiliate and lets him check his account it is also alowsfor the store owner to keep track of his affiliates. another greatthing about it is that it requires very little modification of the oricinal code and is very easy to install.and a lot more Edited December 4, 2003 by nana
Autographs
THANK you for your Reply... Let me just ask you a few questions and then I'll know if it's for me.. I'm just trying to compare it to what My current affiliate program does on my OLD Shopping system that I'm getting away from TOMORROW when my OSC Goes Live.. My Affiliate does the following.. does This one? User Sign up page User log in to check sales USer can link to a product or just to the page I Make payments to affiliates, NOT a third party Affiliate company that charges a fee Admin ability to suspend user Remove Sales that payment doesn't clear for (IE: Declined CC or Check never came) Click through count? Pay Per Click through? I'm sure mine had more but this is really All I need.. Does this have all of that? thanks for your kind help Greg

dkap
Greg, Sorry, I was being sarcastic, although looking back, I can see how that would have been missed. See the response I received on the previous page to understand what I meant. I would have responded earlier, except that the email notifications on this darn forum only work about a third of the time for me. I figure if I repeat the complaint every time I don't receive the notifications, someone else is bound to chime in eventually and say it's not just me. That or tell me to shut up... > User Sign up page Yes. > User log in to check sales Yes. > USer can link to a product or just to the page Yes. > I Make payments to affiliates, NOT a third party Affiliate company that charges a fee Yes (it does that). > Admin ability to suspend user I don't recall seeing an admin tool to do that specifically, but it's easy enough to delete them from the database or change their username/password. > Remove Sales that payment doesn't clear for (IE: Declined CC or Check never came) It is set up have a 30 day (settable) waiting period before crediting the affiliate for sales. You could delete a declined payment within that time frame to do what you want. > Click through count? Yes. > Pay Per Click through? I think that is one of the stats. Also Does anyone have standard Affiliate information text FAQ text Not that I'm aware of (I wrote up my own, using amazon.com as an example), but that's the sort of question that got me told to read through 80+ pages. Needle in a haystack, I tell ya. Dan

Snowman
ah the tier system mechanisms work however they arent supported, and you will need to develop your own client side end to allow lower tiered affiliates to sign up and top level affiliates to view their sub affiliates revenues... Criz
Dear All, I hope someone can help me out with the following problem, as I have seen other people write about it, but did not read any solution. I have installed the contribution and for now it seems to work fine, but when I log in as an affiliate, it loads page 'affiliate_summary.php' and i get the following error message: Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /sites/crown-of-thorns.com/htdocs/affiliate_summary.php on line 108 I have the following code at line 108: <?php if ($messageStack->size('account') > 0) { ?> I have no idea what the problem could be (also don't really understand this coding ;) ) Could anyone help me out please, as this contribution seems to be great and I cannot wait to start using it. Thanks and regards, Chris
Guest
I have installed the newest version of OSC Affiliate and everything on the catalog side is working fine. The only problems that I'm having are with the admin side. Here is what my admin menu looks like (and this is the problem, btw): Configuration Catalog Modules Customers Locations / Taxes Localization Reports BOX_HEADING_AFFILIATE BOX_AFFILIATE_SUMMARY BOX_AFFILIATE BOX_AFFILIATE_PAYMENT BOX_AFFILIATE_SALES BOX_AFFILIATE_CLICKS BOX_AFFILIATE_BANNERS BOX_AFFILIATE_NEWS BOX_AFFILIATE_NEWSLETTER_MANAGER BOX_AFFILIATE_CONTACT Tools Boxes admin I don't think it's recognizing the filenames that are associated with each link in the affiliate box. When I click on the "BOX_AFFILIATE" link, I get a page not found error. Here is the link it tries to load: http://mysite.com/shop/admin/FILENAME_AFFILIATE Can somebody help please? Thanks in advance, Trent

pamperyourpuppy
I just installed osCAffiliate and everything is working great the first time. I'm not sure if I missed something or not, but I've got a quirk. I have a test user and a test affiliate user on my system. Any sales that are made on the store are added to affiliate id #1's credits. Proper affiliate links show up as well as any made from normal browsing and ordering on the store. I've even closed my brower and started a brand new session to make sure the affiliate link wasn't following me somehow. Normal orders should not show up under an affiliate's sales unless a affiliate link is followed into the store. Has anyone seen this? Thanks, John
dandick
ah the tier system mechanisms work however they arent supported, and you will need to develop your own client side end to allow lower tiered affiliates to sign up and top level affiliates to view their sub affiliates revenues... Snowman, The osCAffiliate module is awesome, and I greatly appreciate those involved in developing it. I do have some questions and comments about the "tier" thing. When I looked at affiliate_checkout_process.php and affiliate_functions.php, the code looked a little complicated for inserting affiliates and tracing down who is to receive commissions. I hope you don't mind my saying so, but I think there may be a much simpler way. What if affiliate_root, affiliate_rgt, affiliate_lft were all replaced by one field called affiliate_parent_id? When you insert a node, you just insert it with the parent id and you're done. No table locking or anything. When it comes time to award commissions, you just keep taking the current affiliate_id and asking "whose your daddy?" until you run into one that has no daddy or until you run out of tiers. With this, if you need to, you have a lot of simplicity and flexibility. You can declare a node defunct if you have a field in the table for that, and then just treat it as if it doesn't exist--for instance if someone is accused of spamming. If they are able to provide evidence to the contrary, you may want to be able to reinstate them quickly without having to restore. You can declare their children, parents, or the whole tree defunct, too, in case you have a really wiley spammer who creates disposable children at the bottom layer while retaining commissions at higher layers. If you want to actually anhilate a tree underneath a node, setting up a routine to traverse the tree recursively would be fairly easy, or one could traverse up to the top node and carry out the same anhilation routine from there as well, or send notifications to all in a tree. The affiliate_checkout_process.php would be affected as well as the affiliate_insert function in the affiliate_functions.php file. I don't see any deletion or disabling functions, though, so, when an admin deletes an affiliate, I haven't looked to see how that is done yet. I should do that. Take care, and thanks again for such a powerful and useful package!!! Daniel J. Dick
henri
@Daniel Nested sets were used for performance reasons. http://www.intelligententerprise.com/001020/celko.shtml http://www.codeproject.com/database/nestedsets.asp On small databases with up to 2 tierlevels the parent id modell would work fine. On bigger setups it would loose significent performance cause of a lot of DB-Querys. (i.e. 1 SQL Query vs 1000 SQL Querys) Cu Henri
JaceB
why doesn't the sign up form have a spot for social security #? is there a way to add this?
Jayman2
With the increase of identity theft, I for one would never enter my SS # on a strange website. I know a lot of other people probably feel the same.
Guest
JaceB, Unless you plan on running a credit report. why on earth would you need a SSN?
daggy
Hey guys. Got a problem :( I've added banners, but it doesn't work. this is the link. <a href="http://www.networkshop.no/index.php?ref=2&affiliate_banner_id=4" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.networkshop.no/affiliate_show_banner.php?ref=2&affiliate_banner_id=4" border="0" alt="Banner46860"></a> Why doesn't the image show ? JaceB
JaceB, Unless you plan on running a credit report. why on earth would you need a SSN? Because by law if affiliate payouts exceed $600 per year it is required for taxes. My products run $150 a piece.... it is the law folks, and common place to enter your social security # to be an affiliate.
Guest
JaceB I would put that in your terms and conditions and if an affiliate starts getting close then you contact them and get that information..... But you could always change one of the requireds that you do NOT need (Such as Fax Number) to SSN and then you have it...
kkampen
Has anyone written a multi-tier interface for the admin and client section? I am highly interested in getting some way to use the multi-tier system. thank you, Kelly
