Donations with and without purchases

Hi,

I am in the process of launching a non profit organization and need to give people the ability to make donations through the shopping cart. Initially it will just be donations but in the near future, they will also be able to purchase gifts as well, at which point I would like to present them with the ability to include a donation with their purchase.

Is there an add on to handle this?

Many thanks in advance,

Sue

Probably the most simplistic way would be to create some "products" of various values that they can add to their cart and purchase (with no shipping) as a way of making the donation.

There are other way but they would involve some custom coding to create the feature you require.

Can anyone tell me the 'other way'. We're already doing the donation 'product' but would like the flexibility of user inputted donation amounts. I cannot find an Add On for this.

The simplest method would be to price a product at $1 and allow the customer to enter in a quantity of dollars.

The more complicated method would require some custom programming where you'd have to activate a product as that type in the admin, then modify the store to know that the person can enter their own price for that product.

Please use the forums for support! I am happy to help you here, but I am unable to offer free technical support over instant messenger or e-mail.

I'm trying to do the same thing with the osCommerce catalog, for the user to be able to enter a donation. I was wondering if you could give me an example because I have searched and tried everything and I can't get it to work. I know it shouldn't be too hard. Which files need to be changed? I have the shopping_cart.php, checkout_shipping.php, and the application_top.php. Am I missing a file? On the index page I place a donation button to send the viewer to the checkout shipping page where they can enter an amount. I know I need to enter a false product. Do I enter in as the else of the if(tep_count_shipping_modules()>0) within the checkout shipping page? Can someone step me through this that has done it before?

Come on. If someone is asking how do a feature for their non-profit organization, give them the answer how to do it, not promote another non-profit. We need an answer also on how to make it so that people can enter a specific dollar amount. We would help pay for such a contrib.
