Adding Downloadable Files

Hi, I don't know if this will be the best way to do this, so here i am! I need to add some downloadable pdf charts to help customers select sizes of bra wires. I wanted to add these as a product in the bra wire section as it is essential they choose the correct size and they won't miss them if they are next to the actual product rather than in an info box elsewhere. The charts need to beable to be downloaded before they buy anything else and be totally free and hence not send them to check out.

I have no idea how to set up any form of downloadable file, and can't seem to find the info on the KB, anyone any ideas, please. kellie

Running a botched up version of  osCommerce Online Merchant v2.3.4 bootstrap with the dresscode theme installed, numerous add-ons, terrible coding, terrible website, but will have to make do until I have made up for my losses and can risk shutting down for a couple of weeks while I start all over again. - I did not install my program but am endeavouring to fix it with your help.

I'm having a similar dilemma. The solution I came up with in the short term is to add the pdf file to a new directory on my website, then add some basic html in the product description that points to that file. Check out this example from my work in progress:

Here is the html I used:

<p><a href="http://www.mywebsite.com/pdf/Allied_KWIKFIT_EMT.pdf"><b>Preview the Submittal: </b></a><a align="center" href="http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html"><img src="http://www.mywebsite.com/pdf/pdf.gif" border="0"> Download Adobe Acrobat free</a></p>
