azer
here is the thread for http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,3274 Thanks to Harold Gross and Richard Lindsey here is an exemple : Http://www.mrdeliveryman.com this will allow you to add a bunch of scrolling/slider images to your header area, they scroll horizontallyIts highly customizable, you can add images, subtract images, add hyperlinks so when you click on an image you are taken to a specific page. The backround color can be changed, the scroll speed can be changed, and the image height and width as well as the scroller can be changed to fit your needs. Im sure you can even add this to a box if you wanted to. Here are some idea for further enhancement : - Make an admin configuration group to : * be able to chose the height and width of the images * be able to chose if when you enter a category the carousell will show only image from this category or still all - check if it show only product that are enabled - check if there is an ALT to the image on the carousel that would be the product name - find a way to make the carousel being more smooth, the animation seems to have some saccades ( irregular movement) We could discuss all that in this support thread  Quote MS2

azer
It would be nice to see the code for this to work as a scrolling vertical image in an infobox. there are plenty of vertical scrolling boxes , search the word : scroll in the contrib the aim of this one is that it s horizontal :-) but by the way we could see wich is the best vertical contrib and use some idea to improve this carousel one :  Quote MS2

The contrib has the code in the description, then an entry saying some file is junk, then an entry from 2005, which is the code I downloaded. It is very different from the code in the contrib description, for example it seems to do an sql lookup for products instead of having them listed explicitly. The problem is, it doesnt work. I installed as instructed, and I get nothing but a vertical gray line in the center of my header area. I then tried having the code by itself in a file, calling it as header, and it still did nothing.

baalwww
Is anyone else actually reading this support thread? OK, I found the problems. First, the install doesn't work as listed because the config entry key value needs to be set to 1 more than the max, but is being set to the max. Second, when, like in my case, image height is set to 0 in admin to force computation of the height, the code breaks.

1_musketeer
This is a great contribution and easy to set up. Worked first go. My only question is, is it possible to set the sliderwidth variable as a percentage instead of pixels? //Specify the slider's width (in pixels) var sliderwidth="760";
Oblivius
Nice contribution. I'm starting my site now, didn't know anything about sites, php, etc and it was very simple to install it. lorecoro
hi everybody from italy B) i like this contrib a lot, but i miss one thing: it would be great if one could add some text below each image in the slide (eg. short description and/or price) since i'm not good with javascript, could anyone help and maybe extend the contrib with this (helpful, i hope) mod? Guest
Would like to thank all the people that made this contrib happen.... My site still has some way to go, but you can check it out: RKS Computer Solutions Online Shop I didn't want the scroller to be in the heading, so i stuck it in index.php, took me a while o figure out how to dismantle it and get it to the right place, but finally got it done... check it out on on of the categories.... chowpay
I like how you made it appear in the category. Could you show me what changes you did to make this work? Also has anyone added this contribution as a box. I would like to include it in several parts of index.php but sticking all that code in there 3 times is hassle. Any help would be great Thanks

Guest
I like the contribution, however entering list after list of products is time consuming. It should be possible to take the list of active products and scroll through them??? anyone got ideas on the coding?

I put: leftrightslide[0]='<a href="http://"><img src="/images/FotosCabecera/Altavoz.jpg" border=0 width="75" height="75"></a>' insted of: leftrightslide[0]='<a href="http://"><img src="images/FotosCabecera/Altavoz.jpg" border=0 width="75" height="75"></a>'
