egliteaw
Hello all! This is the first store front style site I have done and my first foray into PHP. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! www.snowladydesigns.com/osc -------------------- Made Link Clickable Andrew
Andrew Yuen
The Java Applet makes the site take forever to load, I would consider removing it as the snow effect is unnecessary. The links/banners on the bottom of your site are align left while the header is align center. Consider centering those banners in the footer. On your main page there is a whole lot of blank space above and below the paragraph of text. I would consider placing the new products listing back on the main page to fill up some of that blank space. Other then that I suggest changing the font within your buttons to something that is bolder and that stand out better behind the button background. egliteaw
Thank you all for your feedback...we had been considering removing the applet and it looks like we should...LOL. It does seem to slow the site down considerably. Any other suggestions are welcome as well. I will be "beefing up" the font in the buttons to make them stand out a bit more... abra123cadabra
Well, it has been said before, the index.php page loads too slow. 1 min 25 sec on a fast dsl connection. And when it's loaded, you wonder what the hell took so long. Get rid of the snow or use an animated gif if you need the snow effect. First impression of the index page: it's too empty and a bit of blurb in the middle plus all those banners in the footer. Long list of available languages. When you click on it you get the babelfish translation... which is awful (at least the German one). If you don't speak the language or know someone who speaks it, and you don't have customers within these language groups, stick to English and get rid of the other languages. It's just unprofessional. Another 37 sec waiting for the flash to load just to find out that there is no phone number or business address on the contact_us.php. As a potential customer I would give up now. I don't have a fast connection to wait for ages for a page to load. I think you need to spice up your pages and the product descriptions. Just looked at the peacock and it's just not enough. Anyway, there is not enough info on the page so that I know whom I'm doing business with. No info about payment options unless I checkout and give you my details first. Sorry, don't have more time to wait for your pages to load. abra The First Law of E-Commerce: If the user can't find the product, the user can't buy the product. Feedback and suggestions on my shop welcome. Note: My advice is based on my own experience or on something I read in these forums. No guarantee it'll work for you! Make sure that you always BACKUP the database and the files you are going to change so that you can rollback to a working version if things go wrong. portalplanet
I agree loose the java. The logo alone take up 1/3 of my laptops screen. Most people are going to go away way sooner than I did. Justin
